Great tutorial, thanks for your efforts. I do have a question about serial booting from USB. I am building a custom carrier board based on EDM-G-I.MX8M-PLUS SoM and I am planning to use the USB-OTG port for both powering the board and data transfer. I wonder if it is possible for me to use USB PD and US3.0 at the same time.

Certainly you can but keep in mind that you won't have 2 power sources in your product.

Nicely done John. Using an LED is an obvious source to remove display refresh from the test. Once you mentioned it... ;)

Install the TechNexion Software Loader. You probably received a NXP Android Things Kit. You will have to get that software removed from your kit first and after that you will be fine. You can refer to the online Android Things pages from Google.

Have been trying to use the MFDTool with a pico pi imx7d and flashing the wayland yocto bsp. It worked once but if I try to reflash it with the same images, commands and configuration then it just gets stuck in a loop constantly resetting when trying to write the rootfs image. Edit: I think the issue is caused either by windows or bad signal integrity for the usb connection. Connecting the USB directly to the computer instead of a through a hub managed to get it working again. A bit strange since I did manage to flash through the hub before.

Is there something I have to do out-of-the-box to get video/power output to the LVDS display? I've got one of these plus the VL101-12880YL-C13 panel, and just plugging the panel in and power it all up, I get no video to the panel - but HDMI output works. Is there something I have to do to set video output to LVDS as primary or something? Thanks.

Brian, work with sourcecode and have your dts set correctly to have your LVDS display enabled will do the trick. You can find our sourcecode on www.github.com/technexion/

can this module be plugged into the RPI compute module 3 IO board?
@TechNexion
@TechNexion 3 жыл бұрын
RPI module pinout is only for RPI module. Our modules are based on EDM Standard and they bring out a large number of industrial interfaces and different display/camera options that RPI unfortunately doesn't offer. Both products are interesting of course. The EDM modules focus is however more on industrial and embedded applications and offers more open control on the bootloader and other interfaces to integrate this in your project.

Can somebody please tell me how to put edm-g-imx8mp board into serial boot? Is the SW1 switch supposed to be positioned at 1 or ON? DO I press the Button1 while I plug the power supply to the board?
@TechNexion
@TechNexion 3 жыл бұрын
When you use the WB-EDM-G baseboard. You will find a button and a switch next to the DC power jack. For the Switch. LEFT position is EMMC boot. RIGHT position is removable storage boot (SD card boot) The button is to put the board in Serial Boot configuration and you should keep it pressed for 10 seconds from the moment you apply power to the board. Therefore when you want to flash over USB. You should put the switch to the RIGHT position. Press the button before you apply power to the board (keep it pressed down for 10 seconds). After you flash. Return the switch to the LEFT position to boot from the EMMC and your newly flashed image will boot on next power cycle.
