Super Video - trying to order all parts that don’t come with it - is the threaded fitting for the little freshwater hose (6x8mm) for the plastic tank connection included? If not - what is it called? Or perhaps you have a list of the parts you use? Thanks again for helpful video

I did not buy much extra. The little blue hose and grey connection are included. As are a lot of connections for the bigger hoses. I just bought some electrical cable 4mm2, reinforced hose and a truehull with seacock🙂

On wooden ships they used copper cladding below the waterline. One could argue that was a natural substance, but where to nail copper sheet metal to a fiberglass hull? Thanks for sharing your experience, I now know what not to try. Back to sanding and painting in 30 degree heat. 👍
@SVTranquillity

Copper plating is not really possible. But copper coat is second best alternative I would say. Copper powder mixed within epoxy resin. Lasts 10+ years. And when it works less you haul out and sand down a little layer to open up new copper partikels.

Well you added an extra blade so you may be overloading your engine and although you are going at lower rpm you may be using more gas. I believe a 2 blade prop is more efficient I believe a folding two bladed prop is the best fir efficiency.
@SVTranquillity
@SVTranquillity Ай бұрын
No we are not overloading. Because the prop did not became bigger. And because of the adjustable pitch it actually is less load for the engine at all times. The adjustable pitch works as a gearbox. And after 3 years of sailing with a 2 blade and 3 years with the autoprop we can conclude it is 30 percent more efficiënt in fuel consumption. But you have a valid point. Since it is also not very good to run the engine on low rpm all the time we have almost the same fuel consumption as before. With the difference we just go faster, so less fuel usage in the distance covered. Which is not as much as 30 percent more efficiënt. More likely to be 15 percent. But you are sooner at tpur destination😃 A folding 2 blade will definatly be faster when sailing. Even less drag.

So sorry you had to deal with Rik also. We too as you know had a similar experience on our catamaran SV Sea Odyssey. In the end, it cost us about €20,000 to install and completely removethe finsulate. Rick had promised us that if we were unhappy with his product, he would simply refund us the cost of the installation. Unfortunately, when we finally decided enough was enough, he was nowhere to be found and subsequently ghosted us.

Yes definately! Only obvious tips. Try to make water in the clearest water possible. The filter on the schenker is quit small. So you go through them fast. Do not try to swap the filters for bigger ones. I did it, but you get a different pressure and the bigger filter houses cannot handle it. So I swapped back to original. You can make small 5micron filters from bigger ones. But you cannot simply half them. So measure with rhe original filter.

at least 24 boats just finished a week to two week stay in Minerva Reef. One of my friends said it was stormy, but none of the folks there, some of whom are Vloggers on KZbin, have put videos out and won't probably for a while, as they get behind . My friend barely does KZbin and he was the last to leave Minerva pretty much. Probably because he really enjoyed it ? They were mostly heading to Tonga/Fiji ect.

Well microplastics are probably the most toxic stuff in the ocean. So if you can reduce it to a minimum why not? It is a bit weird to say well I am allready living so I can pollute as much as I want. We do not like it and try to minimise. But unfortunately not all goog intensions work out well

@@SVTranquillity it is "fashion" to talk about micro plastics due to the enormous quantities of plastics that are rejected. Have you had a clothes drying machine? Then you get an idea how much plastic clothing reject in air we breathe. We absorb much more plastics in daily home activities than we will ever eating fish (who have some plastics in their inedible digestive organs). Now make once an analysis of your diesel exhaust cooling water, you'll be horrified. All proportions should be kept.

Hello, good morning and thank you very much for sharing our experiences on your KZbin channel. We are thinking of installing a Bruntons Autoprop propeller on our 38-foot sailboat. After so many miles traveled, what would be your experience and rating of this propeller? Regards
@SVTranquillity
@SVTranquillity 3 ай бұрын
We are still very happy with the autoprop. Hadn't had any incident with it. And it is just amazing how much speed you will get. And as cruisers do not underestimate the luxury of motorsailing. This prop really helps to give that extra kick and keep your boat up to speed when sailing upwind in nasty waves.

We fell (stupid) for the quit sensible explanation of the manufacturer. The hairs turbulenced the water creating less drag. But no in the end it works like a carpet. It slowed our voat down with at least 0,5 a knot and depending on windspeeds even up to a knot slower. And this is withiut any growth on it. It gets worse cause growth attaches fast when in the warm tropic waters.

I had also Finsulate on my boat. A brandnew Bavaria Vision 46. The boat was not able to reach the rpm that the engine according to Bavaria specification should achieve. Compared to my old boat Dehler 41, the sailing experience with the new boat abd Finsulate was disappointing. It was not as fast as I was used to. After 2 years of discussion the guy who sold us finsulate agreed to remove it and replaced it with silicon based antifouling. What a different boat. rpm was 250 more and the boat sailed 2 knots faster and is also much more agil. Be careful. Finsulate is not good for a sailing boat. It also has a big problem of microplastic. The small hairs on the foil are spreaded around when scratching with s.th. to clean the hull. There are now other non toxic materials on the market, which are really working. Finsulate on a sailboat is not s.th. that I would recommend. Hope this helps other guys. Thank you for your great Video.

Hi Kim, Liz and Bart. Your video is superb👍👍. It's quite rare to see a parasailor on a monohull. Its use is really very detailed. I looked at it very often and finally bought a second-hand sail. But there is little information or guidance for its installation. I noticed that you have two pulleys for the lines, which are installed on the fargue rail: is this installation strong enough? This would really be ideal for me👌. I wish you a good stay in New Zealand and great sailing⛵🏝⛵.

Thanks for your comment! The seller of parasailor recommended to use it this way on our boat. So without extra costs to make a gennaker bow pole or something. The force at the bow is not that much as it is to the sheets. So this worked out really well.

After boating for ten years in the tropics i have to say this is a gimmick. Maybe better to just get the best paint you can find and expect to scrape the hull in the water to remove barnacles. It isn't that hard, I did it by just holding my breath and diving down. It was easier after i purchased a hookah rig, a compressor, forty foot hose and regulator. This allowed me to stay underwater till the job was done. I did scrape the prop every week and at least every month scrape.
@SVTranquillity
@SVTranquillity 4 ай бұрын
We have a semi hard antifouling paint now. Must say it holds up pretty well. I do not think anyone can get away without scraping ones in a while. But I am very happy with propspeed on our saildrive and prop. Just a handwipe once every month😀 and it stays clean.

Nice thank you. This is why we make the video's😊 And yes we are still very happy with the ZEN 30. We had some issues but all my own fault. Do not try to change the small filterhouse for a bigger one. They cannot deal with the pressure and will break. So get a good supply of small filters. You can buy the bigger filters and cut them to size. Do not half them because they will be too short. So use an old filter as a measurement.

Hi Bart, Kim and Liz. Thank you so much for making this video. I've dreamed of having a parasailor for a long time and now purchased a second hand model for my 8.4M sailing boat. Searching for guidance, I found your channel. Not only do you share your experience in a very practical and complete way, I appreciate that your style is to deliver the facts without the padding. I learned so much. I will get afloat at Easter so will be sure to watch again just before that. What I especially notice in this video is the very steady camera work, the perfect angles and the on-screen annotations and top quality sound. It's so easy and pleasant to watch, and I learn a lot. The drone footage is a bonus. Great video doesn't happen by accident! Until now, I did not subscribe to any sailing vessel KZbin channel. It's time to change that 🙂. Tot ziens! Oops - looking through your channel, I see you are entering the next chapter of you life. While you move on to new pastures I will catch up on all your past videos. I've visited New Zealand. What a great place to settle, even if just for a while.
