Typically our Mountaineer Deluxe homes range from $300k-$450k. This of course varies depending on where you build. If you haven't done so already, I recommend requesting information and pricing from our Ask For Pricing page on our website, and you'll receive pricing on all our homes, relevant for the area you wish to build in: www.mycozycabins.com/ask-for-pricing The excavation, foundation, and fireplace/chimney are additional items completed by the customer with using contractors, so I don't have a total cost on hand.

Really nice cabin! BUT.......WHY is it, that every 'new' (newer) house that I see, the kitchen is a MAJOR AFTER THOUGHT?? That kitchen SUCKS. As with MOST newer house plans, the kitchen is CONDO-SIZED; belongs in a CONDO and NOT a HOUSE. It seems to me, that those who design 'new homes' are COMPLETELY OBLIVIOUS to (REAL) FOOD! Prepping/Cooking (from SCRATCH) it, STORING it (SPACE & STORAGE is NEEDED......counter/island space, cabinets & a GOOD SIZED PANTRY!), and PRESERVING it (again, SPACE!). ZERO thought to these HUMAN activities in the KITCHEN. The KITCHEN is THEE MOST IMPORTANT in a house! A 'large' livingroom is NOT needed in a HUMAN home. Humans do NOT sit their arses in from of the Idiot Box, while REAL LIFE goes on around them. Humans are bringing veg/fruits in from the garden and then preserving them......NOT sitting there watching TV!

Thanks for the comment Dawnie. This particular "home" is actually a weekend retreat near a lake, so it was designed to accommodate the owners' needs. But you make a good point, and that is exactly why we offer complete customization of every home. Many of our homes are used for primary residences, and I agree that those of us who grow, preserve, and eat our own foods put a lot of priority on the kitchen size and its design. These are beautiful. Can you tell me about the last NY home? Is that a 26x36 or 26x40 deluxe? My wife and I are considering that model (26x36) and just wanted to see how it would look. We were particularly curious about the great room space on the smaller model. Looks good from the video though. Thanks.

That last NY home (overlooking the lake) is a 28x42. It is based on the 28x42 Chalet plan. The homeowner customized the plan, adding 2' to both bedrooms & enlarging the master bath. It has an off-set great room, with the kitchen recessed under the loft area, and the living room side being a bit shallower. The dimensions off the gable wall of the home shown are 21'-11" on the kitchen side, and 12'-8" on the living room side. The 26x36 Mountaineer Deluxe layout you're considering is 17'-5" on both sides.

I really do not like the open concepts. My kitchen has to be separate from any room in the house. These open concepts look like small gymnasiums.

It's always interesting to hear the varied opinions! Open concepts are very popular today, but they're definitely not for everyone. Which is what makes it great that our layouts are customizable. We can create a floor plan for you with a separate kitchen area, and the whole layout can be tweaked to your preferences.

That home is in Huntingdon County, PA. All our homes are completely customizable, but to get you in the ballpark, a Mountaineer Deluxe that size will range from about $350k-$450k depending on the options you choose. Funding is typically done with a construction loan, which then converts to a traditional mortgage after it's built.

Thats a cool video to see how things are done. We took delivery of our Mountaineer Deluxe in May 2021.. moved into it in September 2021. So we've been here about a year now. I have several videos on my channel documenting the build process if anyone is interested.

These homes are the best! My husband and I bought a chalet and had it installed in Maine in 2020. Now that he has passed on, I really appreciate the solid craftsmanship and attention to detail that went into my beautiful home! I won't have to do any maintenance or upkeep for years to come! Does it still take a year just to be on the waiting list and then another 6-8 months to build?

Current waiting time is about 18 months from time of order until delivery. The interest in our homes has been phenomenal, and even with increased production speed, we just cannot keep pace with the speed of new orders. However, completion time after delivery is only weeks, so there's no 6-8 month build time to worry about like there is with on-site construction.

If pre-constructed in a factory, I would think expansion or shrinkage may occur once built in the outdoors. Nice idea, too bad in the USA and not Canada.

Actually, the opposite is true. Using kiln-dried wood is typical in all construction, but on-site this nice dry wood typically gets wet and swells due to rain & snow exposure before it is covered. This moisture is then trapped in the walls or ceilings, and as it slowly dries out over the next while it causes "settling". Our homes experience very little (if any) settling, as the wood we use stays dry, and only the materials that are treated for exterior use are exposed to the weather. If you ever decide to move the the USA, let us know! :)

who handles the water/sewer/electric hookup to the municipality in which the home will be located? Does the house come with a warranty of some kind?

The water, sewer, and electric hookups are handled by local tradesmen in your area. And yes, these homes are fully warranted for the 1st year by us as the manufacturer, then typically warranted further by the local dealer that handles the installation in your area.
