Very nice driving. I have the progress sway bars but haven't yet installed them. What is the philosophy with softest setting in the rear? What does that do in terms of dynamics?
@GoDriveMX57 күн бұрын
@@Loopy_McLooperson softer rear helps add a little more rear grip. Also stiffening sway bars usually comes with some tradeoffs so I usually go for softer settings.

Awesome video! I’d love to hear why you went with 205s for the street. I’m considering going to 225/45 on 17x8
@GoDriveMX5Ай бұрын
Just wanted to be able to slide it around easily. Also keeps the price down I usually only get 6-8K miles on a set. Not a huge fan of how a 205 looks though. I visually miss my 245s when they're not on. 225 or 235/40 would probably be a good middle of the road size.

Nice video. Just out of curiosity, which car do you prefer for this kind of roads: ND MX5 Miata or 981 Boxster? 981 Boxster has better performance obviously, but do you think it is as much fun as the Miata on public roads like these?
@GoDriveMX5Ай бұрын
@@brightlysteevensz3979 It depends on the driver. If you are driving 7-8/10ths then the Miata will move around more and feel more fun. But at the limit of grip the Porsche is far more developed and is definitely more balanced. I find it more pleasing to drive because of that. The flat 6 is also light-years ahead of the plain ole 4 banger in the ND as well. I find the ND phenomenal for the money but it's definitely outclassed by the 981.
@brightlysteevensz3979Ай бұрын
@@GoDriveMX5 Many people think I am crazy, but I did it the other way around. I have sold my 981 Cayman GT4 and I have bought a ND MX5 Miata. I agree with you about the better balance of the Porsche at the limit of grip. However, I drive my car mostly on public roads and it is very hard to reach those limits over here. You have to drive insane speeds to get there. I think that the strongest point of the MX5 is that the limits are very much approachable on public roads without risking lives and risking your license. On track it is a different story. The Porsche is on another level under the right circumstances. But for spirited road drives the MX5 makes me smile more than the 981 did. If you ask me, the 981 is the better performance car where the MX5 is the more fun car to drive on public roads. The only thing that I am really missing is that glorious flat 6 sound. One of the best sounding cars ever imo. 🎶

What diff and trans fluid are you running? Planning on getting a light weight flywheel added? The 2 - 3 shift bothers me on my nd. What's your thoughts on the steering feel/weight both on casual drives and spirited runs from the 205 to 245? My 195 feels really numb on casual drives. The infamous sticky steering. Wondering if you notice any difference with your setups.
@GoDriveMX5Ай бұрын
@@sanghyunlee8254 Os Giken 80w-250 in the diff. Motul 75w-140 for the trans. Both ran year round. I wouldn't touch the flywheel in a ND2 or ND3 since that's the biggest change from the ND1’s that keeps the trans from grenading. Get a tune and a bigger throttle body if you want a faster blip. That's next on my list. There's nothing you can really do to help with numb steering. Going with a more aggressive alignment is probably the biggest factor, but it will still be vague. The return to center thing has never bothered me as i've never noticed it when driving hard. The 205s feel much less direct than my 245s, but most of that is sidewall differences from a V730 to a P-Zero. The 245s tramline a little more which kind of makes the steering feel more alive, but it's just searching for the groove. I'd say they probably give a little more weight but it's marginal.
