Just out of curiosity, and if you don't mind me asking how much is it costing you for the harmonic balancer replacement??
@fastcar42069
@fastcar42069 4 күн бұрын
@@rickcrain8685 my local GM dealer quoted me 1050 LABOR. in the Midwest. However I made a list of 8 shops and dealerships by doing maybe 30 mins of reading reviews online. Called each and talked to each person and made notes of how I felt, and the prices they quoted. Got a guy who runs an independent shop who immediately knew about harmonic balancers on LS motors and brought up pinning the crank even before I mentioned it. This made me feel like this guy has been around the block a few times. I asked if he does a lot of corvettes, he said yeah they come through here. I believe he quoted me like 600 or 650 , including front main seal replacement, and I provide the balancer. I went with summit, and ordered the ARP stud. The summit balancer was around 280 and the bolt was 40. So out the door just under a grand, with quality parts and a pinned crank by a competent mechanic. I think it's worth it.

I’m using a Grand marquis at a local short track endurance race that requires water to be used instead of coolant. The car is stripped including the module to blast the heat so if I were to drain the coolant and take the thermostat out and do this process but just keep the water is it going to overheat quickly if I’m not able to blast the heat?

@fastcar42069

@@KB1153038 yes actually I built it into a custom "room" or cubby if you will. So actually the drywall is behind it maybe 3 inches away. It's been a year and not a single moisture or airflow problem whatsoever. I also put a register into the drywall to allow air exchange into the basement area outside the room (other side of that wall is just open studs). Make sense?

why does no one hook up the heater control valve for the ac! I have seen so many youtube where they do not put the vacuum line on to that control and leave an open line creating a vacuum leak when the ac is turned on. this control stops coolant circulation in the heater core when the AC is ON. helping the ac do its job without competition from the heater core

The only thing I’d add to this video is if there’s a LOT of sediment like my 03 did, take the overflow tank off, fill it with Vinegar to loosen the crud and flush that out. Mine was so full of mud looking sediment I couldn’t check my coolant level through it Oh yeah, newer cars than 02 will have air box resonators that sit right above the thermostat housing that need to be moved to get the T-stat out. You have to reconnect it all to run the engine during the flushes, or the engine will stall immediately with the air box disconnected.

5' 11. Would probably help in your case since you likely have a wider pressing grip than me. Not sure what awkwardness youd face since everything can be adjusted pretty precisely. Plenty of room to slide up and down while laying on the bench when in flat position to find the right angle for your shoulder joints before benching. Etc. 6'1 is hardly extreme and this is a mass market product
