Sounds like someone needs to do a little more maintenance Lukist Oil treatment would do wonders. These 4.0 engines are the best on the market there are a lot of reasons why One Don't mess with something that you have no Skills at. The cold intake adds more problems. You know are 1991--94 4.0 have no EGR. You think yours is a pile of shit drive on the 1995 ford explorers that has all that EGR crap then you will understand or drive one of them dual over have cam 4.0. They are a pile when it time to do a timing chain service you will pray to have 1991--2000 4.0 single cam. It's all about how you maintain your 4.0. You people that are not mechanically incline talk all the crap. The 4.0 is the easiest engines to work on In the ford V6 line up Plus it has the fewer problems Plus Ford did not design it or build it It's from Germany

RCMP-National Defense-RCMP-Public Safety. Geez, if there was an attack, we'd all be getting the pass on over the phone for four hours before any type of investigating was dispatched. Maybe longer if it's a public holiday.

Fuel pump does sound weaker than mine. My 91 4.0 ticks a little when cold and has like 400000+ miles. I'm going to try lighter synthetic oil and see if it helps. Rangers a beast

Any recommendations? Bought a 91 explorer / also eddie bauer edition, and cant seem to pin point the "3 step tick" as it seems to come and go. - Ive tested putting a higher octane grade fuel in the car, at initialy it seemed to help. I've done a motor oil change w/ filter since buying the car two weeks ago, and it helped quite the "ticking" but hasnt out right stopped it. I believe its a valve, but not sure how to approach it. Any additives I can use?, or sensors or timing issues that I might be overlooking here?

My 91 had lots of lifter noise too. Just did the motor last year. Had 234,000 miles on it and was still just as strong, but leaking oil in multiple expensive places and I wanted worry free driving for another 5 years. Now have 258,000 on it. Lifters get noisy on lots of these Cologne motors I've read but was told not something to worry about. Mine even made noise at temp under load. More annoying than anything I guess. Still a workhorse

that depends on u how much, is lower cost to rebuild than buying a new car or is the car worth it to you. my truck is worth nothing but i like it, it will keep going. Now i have a 2.3L turbo engine cost me $200 for everything i need to change it out.

Too bad Quebec Highway 138, second section ends in Vieux Fort. If the Quebec Government extended Highway 138 from Natashquan to Blanc Sablon as part of Plan Nord, that'll be great for both Quebec and Newfoundland and Labrador.

That's awesome. Is your explorer lifted? If it is, how much and what size tires do you run on it?

Looks like you got some good place to wheel out there. I'm on the west coast in B.C. I want to get out there to the East coast some day.
