A bunch if money being made off of some lies made up to get a guy top dollar for selling his daddy’s old car that got recognized for the genius the story was and the cultural value to lionize a fabricated legend who was supposedly a mysterious Wraith-like character and was a black man, a war hero, and a decorated police officer who appeared out of nowhere, outran the fastest on the street, then disappeared… like a ghost…. Only to be revealed to his son when his father was on his death bed… Well the son is a great movie maker and he pumped the story up enough to get damn hear a million friggin dollars out of a bone stock, nothing special about it mechanically, never built, never messed with, never did nothin at all to it, untouched 426 hemi with a 4 speed that wasn’t at all known for being particularly fast…the 426 was better in its stock form for running wound out at high rpms where it could make some power but had no torque down low and the wrong gears for street racing but were all supposed to believe that this bone stock 18 sec 1/4 mile car was supposed to have been the legendary, unbeatable, legend slayer, unfairly fast, stuck fear into the hearts of all street racers, undefeated, most feared street racer of the era….was thus bone stock hemi car that the owner never had any modifications done to, he wasnt even mechanically inclined, he had someone come change the battery out for him when it went bad. I’m sure the guy (who was a friggin hero btw) ran some street races from light to light here n there and I’m sure he won. But he never got into the thick of the street racing scene and beat anybody who was a somebody and never raced an actual fast car if never got beat. He may have been a legend in his own mind…and amongst their friends there in the block, but it didn’t go any further than that. The rest is all bullshit. But hey, like I said it was a good story. But it’s B.S.

Man there’s a reason Ford stopped offering them in a manual. The ranger trans isnt made to handle the weight of an explorer, they are much heavier than 1/2 gen explorers. Read up, I looked into it but the gearbox isn’t made for the weight, much less any towing, if you do any… Not to burst your bubble but If you do all that work, if go easy on it… Ford offered it in 2002 for the new body and had issues and stopped them for 2003+
