good thing you're not in California it s illegal tho use freshwater game fish for bait. there are hipster idiots in San Francisco using trout they previously caught for bait, even for crab traps, in San Francisco getting millions of views. if you mention it they start accusing you of razzzzizm.

I’m just a fresh water fisher and yes i understand he has the intent it eat it but why not just use a net to avoid a big hole in the middle of the fish or even the meat he is eating resulting in less meat?
@SteveFromWyoming16 күн бұрын
We do use nets occasionally but the gaff is usually easier. The halibut have a huge area to gaff without hitting any meat. I cant recall ever gaffing in a meaty area.

I have two bagaras in 6.5 Creed same result Hornady ELDs shoot substantially better than any other bullet I don't know why I tried 15 different bullets
@SteveFromWyoming24 күн бұрын
yep, they shoot better than my hand loads. I need to try different powders. Hornady SST bullets shoot really good.

I’ve never really had much luck when fishing that really deep spot late in the season. Most of the party boat captains hit that spot in May. Deep drops, fast drifts into 1000’ water, lots of yellow-eye, a few sablefish and not many halibut. Thank goodness for electric reels! 😅
@SteveFromWyoming27 күн бұрын
Yea Ken, it's tough to fish that deep anyway.
