God wanted a pure people that worshipped Him alone, they were not supposed to take wives from ither nations. This is what disobedience does and He is a just God. Even now we are called to not be unequally yoked, not to het into relationships that causes us to serve idols/ false gods. Disobedience by Adam and Eve ,look at what happened to them. You need to get a good study bible to help with understanding Gods word ,dont just read with your understanding either allow the Holy Spirit to guide you into all truth. God bless
