@mahardhikawijaya9173 thanks! No I don't use a tripod for each static shot. I just handheld and then in post, i add warp stabilizer with no motion. If I film myself, I have it on a gimbal and place it on the ground or wherever is flat.

Is it still worth it? In 2024?
@TheCommodoreProductions
@TheCommodoreProductions 4 күн бұрын
@Daily_yousif depends - if you're just starting out or getting into filmmaking or on a lower budget and like small camera size and small native camera lens options, then ya possibly. But honestly there's many options out there to choose from, so I really recommend to research what is your priority in a camera. For example, for me all I need is 4k24fps, small compact size with small lens options, in body stabilization, and a flipout screen. And for the price (especially on used market) i get a lot of value from it. Colors are good out of box as well - and i realized this later on as I learned more about color grading. I started out with this camera and still using it to this day for mostly personal and some professional work. I see it more as a tool to keep getting better with it for myself, and it has all the essentials that I need to make my videos. I know that this might not help as much - but maybe just ask the question of what do you want in a camera for your videos? And prioritize that accordingly, and that should narrow down your choices.

Great video! Just picked up a g85 after watching your content. Quick question Ive been getting pretty significant jitter in both handheld and tripod video with the 12-60 kit lense. Ive tried a variety of different settings but still the same issue. Anything i should try or might this be a defect.
@TheCommodoreProductions
@TheCommodoreProductions 4 күн бұрын
@lazarus851 thanks! Hmm...that sounds defective to me - especially if you say your tripod video having jitters? Are you able to test another lens to see if the result is different? I would do that just to make sure it's not the camera itself having jitters. Then after I confirm which is the problem, go to your local camera store to see if they can diagnose a problem for you to triple check what the issue is. Then I would reach out to the store you bought it from if you have warranty with your purchase. If not, go to lumix directly to see if they could do something about it (i think they might have warranty for their products - but you'll have to check if you have that covered). Not sure if that helps, but it's how I would go about this. Best of luck!

I get a lot of realization from watching your videos. I'm shocked that you can make these beautiful, cool videos with mft cameras, even the model g85, even 8bit videos, even not Log. I'm ashamed of myself for being interested in the latest machines, and moreover, the size of the sensor, and other things that aren't the core. I respect you! I'm wondering, you're already a senior, and you could buy gh7 or some other advanced camera if you wanted, but why do you still use g85 on the pro stage? (Just curious.)

I mostly edit for my professional work, and if I film - depending on the client - I use my G85 or another setup (sony, blackmagic, canon, etc.). So I don't see the need to steer away from the G85, especially for making my own content. But personally I just haven't found a camera I really like just yet to upgrade into, so maybe it's just me being picky.

If you are new and want to get into videography and photography and want to build a career - G85. You can also use the extra money and put it into the Panasonic 25mm lens as well. G95 if you are just going to do this as a hobby and not really professionally, or if money is not a constraining factor since this is slightly upgraded from the G85.

@rubencastellanos8732 thanks! Hmm depends on what is your film normally - if you do portraits of people or close up style shots, or maybe product type edits, then getting a 50mm would may be more suitable for you. @TheCommodoreProductions
@TheCommodoreProductions Ай бұрын
@rubencastellanos8732 I think it depends on your priorities - i chose this lens because it works best in low light, similar to the panasonic 25mm, given the low aperture. Other wide lenses are not as low so it might be difficult for that. The other bonus is we can use the pre focus method on this lens with the G85, where maybe other wide angle lenses we will have to manually focus by using the focus rings - given they won't be lenses from panasonic.

thank you!! So essentially my ISO limits would be at 800 ISO. But the lower I can put it, the better. For color grading, there's no need to convert to rec.709 since the G85 does not have a picture profile setting to convert to (the one I use is Natural Picture Profile). I color correct first then add my luts over it - I would then manually adjust the colors of each clip to make sure everything was to my liking throughout - perhaps I should make a color grading tutorial specifically for this camera to visually explain the process haha.

@TheCommodoreProductions
@TheCommodoreProductions Ай бұрын
thank you!! And to get started - I would have three things in mind: 1. What is your the type of video you want to make? 2. References/examples to the videos you want to make 3. Plan your shoot - so to put it simply, just create a shot list for yourself (like take screenshots from your reference videos), and then film! After that - you have all the shots you need to make an edit. Now of course I'm telling you the simplest way to get started, there's definitely more you can add in between like storyboarding and such. But honestly, it's just going out there, trying it out, and enjoying the process. When I started, I just took inspirations from my favorite travel filmmakers at the time, went out to film it, then created an edit that blended it all together. lol I came back and the shots weren't soo good too. But over time, I started to learn more and more, and got to harness my own style. Essentially the more you practice, the better you become. So if there's any takeaway from this, just get out there and film it and create it!
