I love the *song selection* from Texas Southern and not only that, I can tell the band probably listens to the actual song together to know what they’re playing because that “Computer Love??” sounds so much like the song I can tell the arranger went to work. After a full listen of the battle and second listen of majority of it I’m have to give the slight edge to Southern. They sound better to me but I wanted to give them props to TxSu above as well. Still loving Southern’s balanced sound you hear every section a mile away.

SU was no pushover either. They drive this to the wire and by some accounts they win. I might agree but that ring and reverb off those skyscrapers in Downtown Houston when the Ocean kicks in is insane. And they are cleaner with it. SU does though, have a more diverse book and displays some better musicianship. They are proud regal and fight like pure hell from round to round.

Southern is clearly is on an F'ing mission to take back their throne. They sounded more like the classic Southern machine that they were known for. Very balanced, powerful and disciplined.. This was a really good battle but, imo not very close. Txsu wasn't what i was expecting. I expected them to come harder.

@@2ston Of course they did. My top favorite University bands are SU , JSU and Txsu. I'm not a fan boy; if you see my comments, you'll clearly see for the past few years i have been very constructively critical of SU. I give credit where credit is due. Southern was just too much for Txsu this year.
