Whites control all the credit, the courts, and the cops. Where do Black Americans have any power over whites? It is wild white males complain about a system white males made for the benefit of white males. If whites can't get what they want out of their own system, what does that have to do with Black Americans? Once again, whites just can't take any responsibility for their own failures. Whites just have to bring Black Americans into the discussion to have someone to blame. Same stuff. Different day.

@@healingrace3491My first question about diversity is what type are we talking about. Are we talking about scientific, mathematical, and basic history knowledge? Are we talking about social norms, society and religious customs? Are we talking about interpersonal relations? What about our values? My experiences in life have taught me that there are skilled, intelligent people every where. Male and female, urban and rural, and so forth and so on. We need to use all people with ability to deal with the challenges of life. So diversity is necessary.

@ I started reading about American history and I just realized race is fake. It’s an instrument used to divide us, we are so divided now that women don’t want to be with men and children don’t want to listen to their elders. The US spends billions of dollars per year to make sure we all argue and do not work together and it doesn’t take much effort either! Look at affirmative action, Black leaders fought to get that instated. Asians fought to get it removed, thinking it was only for Black individuals, now ALL minorities are getting into elite schools at a much LOWER rate. The wealthy donors and legacy students have a much easier time getting in and they are laughing I’m sure. Crabs in a bucket mentality, except the other minority groups have no clue they are even in the bucket yet.

Why are we separating individuals by race. Why can’t we just be Americans? Parents just need to make sure that their children get the education that they should get , not only that. I know it’s hard for a single parent to raid their children because they have to work but a parent can make time out for them. Have them read one book a week and the parents can ask them what they have learn from this book. When they become older. Then they can achieve a good University and a good job. We need to focus on our children so they will have the opportunity to own their own house and have a better life

I urge all of you to watch “Am I Racist?” By Matt Walsh bc this is just absolutely wild. If anyone is yelling outside of my car…guess what..I am locking my door. Your race is absolutely irrelevant to me. The true racists are people like this woman who see the world like this. She even described the “unthreatening friend” in the black hoodie as “very white, very gay” as if those adjectives describe a non-violent/non-intimidating human? Do you realize how racists that sounds? This is so counterproductive to fighting racism and you people refuse to see it.

Thank you for commenting, @GBN2009 ! Just to better understand your perspective, do you believe people with different views and backgrounds should try to have open, honest, constructive conversations to build understanding about topics that can divide them -whether it be race, politics, religion, nationality, societal issues or any other of the range of difficult topics that our society engages on? How would you "fight racism" and would it involve any conversation? We have seen clips of "Am I Racist?" so we cannot speak on it fully. But from the clips we have seen, the approaches to talking about race that Walsh highlights do not reflect how we approach having conversations about race.... and we think that is pretty clear for anyone sees the range of topics, views and people we have on our show. We bring together Americans with widely varied backgrounds and views together to share their thoughts, their experiences, and discuss their different perspectives - in a long form way - to build mutual understanding and connection between people who often don't get a chance to really talk honestly... so they can better understand each other. And that would include you... and your perspectives as well. For people who don't often interact with one another and who can sometimes get a lot of their ideas about one another from social or other forms of media - including through movies like "Am I Racist" - we have experienced conversations being an important tool in getting beyond what can sometimes be caricatured - or at the very least incomplete - views about each other. What we saw in the clips of "Am I Racist" is a kind of caricature. It's not necessarily an untrue caricature of the people it depicted. But might it be the case that not everyone who cares about racial issues and/or chooses to discuss racial topics approaches it in the ways depicted in that movie? Might it be the case that what was depicted in the movie could be an outlier rather than the rule when it comes to having conversations about race? Might it also be the case that even the people depicted in the movie are more nuanced human beings and have more nuanced views about race than what we get to see of them in the movie? Lastly, we have heard people say that if one looks for things to be racial, they will find the situations in their lives to be racial. If that describes one factor affecting how we see things as humans, wouldn't it apply to "wokeness" as well? Wouldn't we find more "wokeness" than might exist by looking for "wokeness?" What are your thoughts about our need and our ability to discuss difficult topics like race in ways that heals rather than harms, that clarifies rather than distorts?

If you look at everything in a racial way, you will find racism or bias everywhere. Everyone. And I mean everyone should read about "Ideas and delusions of reference" because that is what this is. There are a lot of other types of examples through-out history that comes out of this and not just this topic. Example, watch the movie The Number 23 (its highly under-rated), or read anything about the "23 Enigma". When you focus on a thing, you will start finding it everywhere and it can drive you into madness if you become hyper focused on it.

Thank you for commenting, @thomasjones4570 ! Would love to learn more about your thinking. Based on the conversations we've had with a diverse range of Americans, a question you would likely get from someone with a different perspective is whether the opposite can be true... Just as someone who always looks at things in a racial way is likely to interpret situations through that lens (and see race as a factor when it might not be), is it possible that someone who never looks at situations through a racial lens, or never examines race as a possible factor in an experience, might miss times when race is actually a factor? What are your thoughts? Is race ever a factor, and perhaps even an important factor, in how someone approaches a situation? Would love to hear your thoughts and what shapes them!

@@healingrace3491 Well first thing first. The actual definition of racism is the BELIEF that one race is superior or inferior to another. I do not buy into the "new" definition at all or how the word racism is used today which is actually both the words "Bigot/ry" and "prejudice". Prejudice is an opinion not based on reason or actual experience and is a thing that 100% of all humans have, by nature and are not based on race, but CAN be. Bigotry is the attachment AND action based on those Prejudices. Language is important. Racism = belief of one race above/below another Prejudice = an opinion not realistic that can be as minor as Japanese make weird animated shows and Italian food is tasty to really harmful things Bigotry = the ACTING upon the above. "I am in my car and a man is yelling, clearly angry and he was black so I locked my car doors." It is EASY to quickly then say it was done out of Prejudice or Bigotry but... Did you only lock the car doors because he was Black? Would you have done it if he was Latino? Asian? White? What if it was an angry woman? Many would lock the door for ANYONE yelling and showing clear signs of anger out of a natural self-defense that is actually programmed into our lizard brains. That is evolutionary and a thing that actually cannot be stopped. Its fight or flight. That does not even remotely mean that BIGOTRY, the acting upon of prejudice does not exist. It just means that what appears to be bigotry actually often times is not if you look past the surface. What we have going on the last 15ish years is a lot of people not even tied to a situation, judging that situation with their own lens and then acting as if that, is truth, even stripping away all context from it to do so. I think the greatest injustice done to the American people in the last 30 years was Opera telling people to "Speak their truth" as if opinion, or point of view was a "fact". It is not. There is a reason why when there is a crime the police will canvas the area and speak to as many witnesses as possible instead of just stopping after listening to one person. The get a clearer understanding of what actually happened.

Thank you for your comment@@VivaLaFortuneVlog! What do you think has led you to take a different path from those in the Black community who do feel they need to think about their race or color? We've had some Black guests or viewers who say they focus on their race mostly because of how they're treated differently because of their race. Do you face bias based on your race and just choose to ignore it, or have you not faced bias? We'd love to hear more about your perspective!

Thanks for the important question, @bretrichardson8660 . Guests have shared different reasons for their varied feelings when it comes to racial issues. Here are the longer conversations that our first group of Americans had: kzbin.info/aero/PLALbUkzp3eLJDwmiqEbNoaIpkI05dOp_J And we have conversations with three more groups of Americans that we'll be sharing in 2025. Thanks for engaging!
