I have the 5ds and 5ds r, both are amazing and only wish they had a better fps speed for my wildlife work, other than that can't fault them. For speed I use my 1dx mk1 but for sheer details has to be the 5ds or 5ds r.

Been following your greenhouse build for several years now as we were first planning and now at the end stages of building our own. We are about to start building your exact cresting and the finial. Would you be so kind as to tell us the height and width of the finial and also how tall the points on the cresting is and the width. Many Thanks for being our inspiration, Merry Christmas. ❤

Great comparison. But having watched a few SA 2i reviews, you are mounting the camera on SA 2i wrongly, which increases cantilever stability. Mounted similarly when a camera on a ball joint socket is tilted sideways 90degrees, making it more subsceptable to vibrations and wind. It needs to be mounted in the same way you have ball joint mounted on ioptron.

A very nice build Ian, and a fantastic instructional video. I have a couple of questions. With 4mm toughened glass how wide is the rebate in the rafters to take it? How do you fix the wall plate to the brickwork (this is more for the greenhouse you built in your back garden)? Do you put any damp proofing under it? Thanks for any replies!
@ironian24
@ironian24 4 ай бұрын
@nialstewart8263 thx for your comment, yes there is damp proof on my one as I built it from ground up, however not on this one as the bricks were already there, saying that I do remember there being a black line on the first course of bricks suggesting damp proofing. The grooves for the glass is 10mm in and 5 mm groove to take the 4mm, then it's sealed in with clear silicon. And finally aluminium ridge clips at the end of the glass. The wall plate would have been bolted to the brickwork.

Wonderful work! How is the wooden frame attached to the brick wall below? And what material is the top made out of? Also what type of wood did you use? Sorry for the many questions 😂
@ironian24
@ironian24 6 ай бұрын
@daytodaylivin4418 thx for the comment, The wooden frame just beds down on a layer of cement. This ensures levels are correct. You could use wall brackets, but I never did. The wood is simply pine and treated pine, the roof is jointed and bird mouthed to prevent movement or spreading when weight is applied like glass. It is pretty much in it's forth year and still looking good.
