Thank you so much for this video, as someone that has used Rebelle for a number of years I was completely stumped when it came to using clipping masks. I have watched a number of videos on the use of clipping masks but only after watching this video I finally understand the power of using this option. Thanks again😃

Discovered this today and enjoyed the time whilst trying to update my mac and some of your stuff is a great help to newbies or beginners. I started using Rebelle got a bit worried about the watercolour running mad even though I did turn off and control it after a while so migrated to Painter and stuck with that my work is defo ameteur and I have not gone through all your work but you do a lot of abstract. I have never tried that but your tutorials/demos unlock for me some extra value out of both CP and Rebelle. The I found your more advanced work which is a collage type of work. I get up early to watch old Sky Arts Portrait and Landscape and some of my work gets hung at home but some is consigned to the portfolio file by my partner although I did a very brave portrait of my grandson last month but it is very difficult for ameteur to get right. So I going to break out and relax having a go with some of your abstract for awhile Thanks for a great bundle of work Nicky

Painter is a complex tool especially for beginners, so just keep painting as much as you can, just for you. Abstract is a great way to explore. 😊

Depending on your PC’s specifications - increasing maximum brush size in the brush creator can really slow down the brush strokes, especially if you’re painting on a canvas at 300 DPI (Ideal if you intend to print) I find the best way to avoid any lag on any type/size brush is to paint on a canvas with a DPI of about 75, then use the Nano export feature to upscale for printing on completion - works for me, anyway.

Interesting. I have a very high spec computer and I find the brush lag does indeed increase when I increase the brush size, coupled with increasing the number of layers in play. I print a lot of my work so starting with 75 dpi instead of 300 or 250 is almost like one more thing to remember to do (and so counter-productive for my particular work flow). But possibly something to keep in mind. Hopefully it can be sorted out another way - at source.Thanks for the tip.

Very interesting. Thank you. I have been wondering if a acrylic pour type of abstract was possible. Is it possible to make acrylic paint move or defuse or blow around the canvas without manually moving the paint with the liqify tool?

It's a good question... something to explore. From my experience of the acrylic brushes in Rebelle however I don't think it's possible. You'd have to move the paint after the fact and that would probably mean the liquify tool - which isn't what you are looking for. I believe the acrylic brushes are only affected by the impasto settings not the diffusion settings. I know I can do so in another program... but again - using actual pour brushes.

@@lc3564 The other program I was referring to was Corel Painter (I am going to do a video on those brushes at some point). However Procreate is another program you can do acrylic pour and alcohol ink pour (I have done both) providing you have the right brushes. I purchased mine from designers I like however you could probably make your own brushes if using Procreate (and Corel Painter too) to get the "pour" paintstrokes. If I was going to suggest which to explore it would be Procreate because I am pretty sure if you did a search for those brushes you'd find them.

@@nickyjamesonarttv Thank you. I would love to see the video on Painter brushes. I am not that good at using Painter yet. Rebelles watercoler defusion engine was something Painter does not have to the same liquid degree with the blow tool and tilt. I like messing around with bith for abstracts and backgrounds.

@@lc3564 stay tuned for the acrylic pour Painter brush demo👍🏽. Yes, Rebelle's Watercolour brush engine is really what sets it apart, it's quite amazing in what it can do. Painter's Watercolour hasn't anything quite like it. I will share some more on it because it's so versatile. At some point though I will explore watercolour in Painter... Its not the same as Rebelle but it is worth exploring (at least I think so!) 😊

Thank you, I am glad you like the videos! I have more planned. Well done in making brushes! I will create one on brush creation once I've had a play around myself (I haven't made any brushes yet because I am exploring all the new ones but I will get around to making at least one! I also will do a video on masks and using clipping masks, it's on my list. Did you know you can also get free brushes from the Rebelle Community? There are some really nice ones to play with.

In the brush creator settings you can increase the max brush size for any brush.
