I came to God through Fear, but that fear turned into a love relationship with Jesus!

I think this is a grave misuse of that passage from St. Paul. There is no "God of the Old Testament".
@heritage_press7 күн бұрын
You’re right, the God we see in the Old Testament is exactly the same God we see in the New Testament. That’s just the point of this video! We made this video because many believers find it hard to reconcile why in the Old Testament God seemed so austere and then in the New Testament Jesus seems so loving. In this video we explain that it was the same God there all along, but a veil over the hearts of believers kept them from seeing who God truly was. Jesus has removed that veil and expressed the Father perfectly to all the world. If this does not answer your question, please watch the whole video in the Heritage Press app (it is free to watch with a free account).

And after watching this a few times I’m also curious what you meant by “it’s not the faith that saves you”…? I may understand your meaning but it seems Ephesians 2: 8-9 (amongst others) says the differently, “ For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God- not by works, so that no one can boast” Would you mind clarifying for me?

Sure! We are no doubt saved by faith, and this is made expressly clear in other sections of this clip as well as the full video. In the statement you mentioned, the speaker is referring to James’ words: “What use is it, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but he has no works? Can that faith save him?” The speaker is saying that this kind of faith without works is a dead faith, it’s not true faith as defined by the Bible, and so it is not the kind of faith that saves us. And we have to be sure our faith is the right kind of faith, since our faith IS what saves us. Hope that helps!

I’m curious about your opening statement “defeat a works salvation”?…. I may misunderstand what you mean but the Bible is clear that there is no such thing as a “works salvation”…

Thank you for your comments! This clip is an excerpt from a question and answer video which you can watch here: kzbin.infoTIhNGjJSvcQ?si=WS6sSR91GVugnfZd We agree 100% there is no such thing as a works salvation! We simply believe that we have to obey God. Some people say falsely that a position like that is a “works salvation”, and then try to use the mentioned passage in Romans to “defeat” that misunderstood position. We believe that the Bible teaches that genuine faith will produce obedience to God as we progress in our walk of salvation. This clip is by no means an exhaustive explanation on the subject. Please feel free to watch the full video for a fuller explanation, or reach out if you have any more questions!

works means actions, not actual doing works for yourself or God. We are in the sabbath day if we are in Jesus' rest for He is the sabbath how many of you are working? How many of you are resting and sharing in faith?

Thank you for this talk. A good reminder of what the Church should be. The examples at the end brought it to life. And thank you to the brother for sharing his heart about his journey back from prison! I might not have been in prison but I'm as thankful for the Lord saving me too! <3

Thank you! Although raised in the faith, Simeon chose a different path for many years. He was a decorated Marine who faced PTSD after leaving the military and, sadly, turned to alcohol for a season, resulting in a DUI-related incarceration. Yet, during his few months in prison, he was able to rediscover his faith, and he's been substance-free ever since-more than seven years now! His joy now is irrepressible!

I feel like peoples' focus or even motivation might be misplaced and/or suspect when they ask, 'at what point is a person or myself saved'(?) when I think the question should be, 'what must I do to be saved'(?); i.e., 'what is God's Plan of Salvation (for today/aka this dispensation)'?
