British Paras are not special forces and neither are Royal Marine Commandos. They are very elite regiments of the British Army. It is from these elite regiments most of Britains SAS and SBS special forces recruited from.

Proud as it must be for him and his family those alongside him. Sometimes people don't want to receive high profile award. It's a pain on the ass. People know who you are and you're expected to condust yourself right at all times in the public eye. This is just my point of view I'm an average Joe with a 9-5 day job. Even Celebrities getting hounded I don't want something like that in my life.

Yeh, well the Australians VC recipients from Afghanistan all had the choice if they accepted it or not, I geus they would have had some pressure put on them to take it, but all the books I've read about Mark Donaldson VC, Ben Robert Smith VC, MG, both of the SASar,Daniel keirghan V¤-6 RAR and Cameron Baird VC (posthumous) MG 2nd commando regiment (his family) all decoded to tale the award for their slain mates and for the unit and the units history... Nd due to protected identity status it would mean that these guys would have to stop being operators and take more of a desk job and be used as a bit of propaganda for lack of better words .. I know mark Donaldson accepted lf he could continue to deploy as an oppo

@@diggergaming7174 Make some great points here. It must be weird to recieve an award for time in combat. After knowing friends alongside you equally heroic and dedicated that maybe didn't get any recognition. Cheers for the vids and I'm keen to read some of those books. ANZAC hard.

The vido you used didn't tell the whole story, and had some facts wrong, We had a fully operational unit with all african solders, originally known, as the Kings African Rifles, then renamed the Rhodesian African Rifles. Who saw action in the second World war, and the Malayan emergency. And you are right we had Auzies and Kiws giving us a hand.

Thanks for doing this one bro I am an ex Digger myself I'm a third generation Indigenous Australian Soldier my grandfather served in the second world war and my uncle's we're Nasho's during Vietnam and it was always been a passion of mine to join the Army when I was kid I wanted to be a Soldier and so I kick started my military career with RFSU I was apart of Norforce for 2 years absolutely loved it and decided to go full time did my 80 days at kapooka went to singleton but unfortunately I did not make it through I got Injured during session which I ended up getting medically discharged but my time in Norforce were the best days of my life but that did not mean that I didn't enjoy my time in the ARA I got to see the wider Army it was Norforce that literally helped me get my foot in that door. And once again thank you for sharing this I just subscribed to your channel and just realised you're Ex Digger too from one Ex Digg to another I salute you and thank you for your service Sir

My opinion on this is, that while very flawed, it would have been the best if Rhodesia was kept under white minority rule, slowly reforming over time. The war and honestly the people in power having no idea how to run a countr because they didn't study anything related to it just run it into the ground.

Whether its a bullpup or a traditional rifle, what really matters in which platform is chosen is the weapons purpose. Bullpups are notorious all around the world for lacking features that are essential to modern day special forces such as enough rails and space for accessories, the minutia of fixed but stocks and most notoriously, their atrocious triggers. Modern day special forces employ the concept of the weapon is apart of its operator, therefore it should be able to be tailored to the operator's specific requirements. The M4/M16/AR15 series of weapons are just as reliable as any other standard military weapon(Steyr AUG). The M16A1 got a bad reputation in Vietnam for being unreliable because soldiers and marines assumed the weapon didn't need to be cleaned since it wasn't issued with cleaning kits or instructions on how to clean the weapon nor were the barrels of the M16 chrome-lined to protect against corrosion. All of these problems were fixed with the M16A2 which was offered to Australia. Contrary to the belief of many people, the M16's main reliability problems came from its magazine which didn't have an anti-tilt follower which cause the magazine spring to bind when loading and induce malfunctions into the rifle when fired and a multitude of other problems which were finetuned over the decades. The M16 runs fine as long as its cleaned and lubricated before and after combat and when subjected to harsh environments like the desert and muddy areas. The barrel life of an M4 rifle in the US Military is 7,500 rounds. This is because some genius general in the Army decided to not Cold Hammer Forge the barrels and mainly because of the ammunition (M855A1) used which wear on the barrel more that the previous ammunition (M855) along with full-auto and burst fire with cause more wear on a barrel that semi-auto.

Hey mate, I own some post WW2 armour. A 5.56NATO would certainly destroy the episcopes in those - both driver and gunner - in the armour in this video. .303 and .30-06 would certainly do the number on the optics. Targeting the vision prisms is a viable tactic. But still, not much fun if the armour has infantry support.

As a teenager living over boarder in Zambia, the Rhodesian Bush war was something very close to me. My brother and I were desperate to "go south" and join the fight - and ended we up in boarding school in the UK to keep us away from it all. Travelled through Rhodesia in 72 during a "peaceful time" and loved everything about the country. Tragic how it all ended up. The Rhodesian Light Infantry, C Squadron (Rhodesian) SAS, Selous Scouts, Rhodesian African Rifles, The Rhodesian Regiment, Rhodesian Armoured Car Regt (The Black Devils), Greys Scouts of the Rhodesian Armoured Regiment. "Green Leader" and the attempt to attack Nkomo in Lusaka. The music, songs of time, (thanks KZbin) the "Troopie" (and who's statue was smuggled out and is now located at Hatfield House, home of the Marquess of Salisbury). I joined the British Army in 77, partly in frustration for missing out. "Rhodesians Never Die!"

Interesting video! I appreciate you watching videos from Battle Order, great channel and website. As you said, I respect the People's Liberation Army like other military organisations. China's military history is quite interesting considering they have been heavily involved in conflicts like the Second Sino-Japanese War (1937-1945), World War II (1939-1945), Korean War (1950-1953), and Vietnam War (1955-1975). The book 'Art of War' was created by a Sun Tzu, a military strategist from China! Anyways, great video as always!
