Our Homeowners went up 54% in 2023. Good to hear that SC is heavily engaged with the carriers, especially to support those of us who are located along the coastline of SC. Hopefully the State can take some action to regulate the increase’s impacting residents along the coast line.

It's great to hear South Carolina is doing well in recovery. My concern is the ongoing inflation and potential for recession across the country, especially given the recent additional debt taken on via the ridiculous Omnibus bill and the potential for energy price rising again due to China opening up their economy. South Carolina, especially Hilton Head, derive a lot of benefit from travel/tourism. I believe we are already seeing a slow-down from those strapped by inflation and will continue to do so if my view above is correct.

They need to STOP building and developing. Hilton Head was more wild and natural a few years ago. The last mayor and council went crazy. They don't understand what a gem the island is. One recent hurricane caused a loss of 10,000 trees. We're snow birds, but every time we come down, we see more houses and less palms and Spanish moss. Just re-develop the venues you have. The parks need to be natural. The 2nd biggest problem is the traffic, the driving is terrible and roads are dangerous. There are so many accidents, every time I get on the road, I feel like I'm taking my life in my hands. If you want to continue to reap the benefits [millions we get from tourism] you need to keep the island the way it is. No more contributing to climate change. Every year it gets hotter. August is getting unbearable. Please tell them you are happy with what we have and that we need to protect it. Thank you.

Best decision we have ever made was to call Hilton Head Island HOME. Ever since we moved here the quality of our lives, and the lives of our two children (11, 5) has never been better. The weather, salt air (#SaltTherapy), the low country lifestyle...and the people...it is by far this community has been the easiest to connect with others. We Love Hilton Head Island and it deserves to be #1.
