With regard to Cyndi’s voice, I just saw something that explains it! She said she really has worked hard to lower her talking voice and to soften the accent after she heard herself on a tv show during and was horrified. Said she sounded like a cross between James Cagney and Minnie Mouse. It makes sense that when she gets excited or is about to crack a joke, she jumps back into her natural voice because she isn’t laser focused on it. Fascinating that you can hear that here!

Cyndi's always been my top female vocalist who can out sing any veteran belter past or present yet you never see her name on any best lists. I haven't seen any artist attempt to sing this difficult song the way she only can. And the French audience is as dead as a rock
