How do you retrieve your cast cray jigs?

I vary it. Sometimes it's a slow, constant twitch. Sometimes I pause it after 5 feet or so. Sometimes I twitch once or twice and leave it sit for 30 seconds. I vary it and let the fish tell me how they want it.

I hope you did not eat any of the fish. That is one of the dirtiest lakes in Ohio! You are lucky you did not run into an alligator while you were there

No alligators but we were looking. The ODNR recently lifted the "do not eat" recommendation for Summit Lake. But we didn't keep anything. It's an interesting body of water. Natural lake, spring fed. Too bad industry polluted the canal and lake so much. It's getting much needed attention from metroparks. The towpath trail is fun to walk in Summer.

I never fish up that way, but live nearby. I'm a transplant from another state and region. My question is what time does this bait shop open? The best fishing everywhere is at sunrise, I have yet to find a baitshop in the area that opens before 8 AM. With some not opening until 10:00. I've taken to keeping and catching my own bait and ordering online because of these poor "bait shop" practices.
