If you really want to blow your mind, consider that if you continue to do the maths of doubling the number of ancestors every generation, at somewhere between 25 - 30 generations back, you actually get to a number that is bigger than the population of the planet at the time. 🤯

This band is HUGE! everyone is a total expert in their own area. but as for the keyboard player named Tuomas Holopainen, he is the brain and core of the band. he has a phenomenal ability to "hear" a new song in his head even before he has written a single note. I learned this from a Nightwish documentary. Thank you for getting to know this band, thank you for your honest opinion and welcome to the Nightwish army. yes, and greetings from Finland. commented, ordered and ready to take part in the next Nightwish reaction video.

There are songs with drummer going crazy, like the Scaretale (there is live video and compilation of movie and video made by fans), or Weak Fantasy in Tampere (pretty impressive drum solo), and then there is Master Passion Greed, that has never been played live. It is not metalcore, but very angry and heavy. But taking into account that mastermind of the band is keybordist ...

Fun fact: Tuomas, the keyboardist and composer, was inspired to go into metal when he attended a Metallica and Guns 'n Roses concert as foreign exchange student in America! Fans of Metallica can pick up on the influence in Nightwish's music, and he actually pays tribute to Metallica specifically in a section of their song "The Greatest Show on Earth" during the portion that represents music throughout history. As far as playing with restraint, Nightwish's members are all incredibly skilled but they don't show off for the sake of showing off, they serve the song. And you're right about the mix! One of the first I think who has been. The blend of Floor's voice in this was a deliberate choice, as she's supposed to part of the symphony of voice. Normally she is more than capable of belting up in the forefront, and you'll see that a LOT in the official lives!

This is the tenth album and the third with this very versatile singer. They are an amazing live band especially since she joined.Although Nightwish rarely uses growls this lead singer, Floor Jansen (2012- present) is very capable as you would discover with her previous band ReVamp. And plenty of growls but not by her in her first band After Forever. She actually was asked last minute to support Metallica recently at one of their concerts after James Hatfield heard her with Nightwish. She used a different band to back her as she toured in between Nightwish tours. They had been the house band when she appeared on the Dutch TV show Beste Zangers in 2019.

When you want to go further on the path of our 1.83m (6ft.+) tall Dutch Valkyrie Queen Floor Jansen besides Nightwish, here is some background information on the best and most versitale female singer of our time. Floor joined the band 'After Forever' in 1997 at the age of 16. Here are some of my favourites: ‘Energize me’; Monolith of Doubt’ and Dreamflight’. Floor attended the then new Rock Academy in 1999 and graduated in 2003. She also studied 2 years at the Conservatory (1 year Music Theatre and 1 year Opera). 'After Forever' disbanded in 2009 and Floor started her own band 'Revamp' from scratch. Here she experimented with different vocal styles within one song from full operatic to death growls in seconds. Here are some examples: ‘Misery’s no Crime’, ‘Wild card’ and ‘Disdain’. Besides managing a band on her own she also did a lot of vocal coaching and as she is a perfectionist, she wants to do everything at 100%+. Eventually she had to pay the price and got a burnout. She had just recovered when end of september 2012 the call came from Nightwish to fill in for the remainder of the North American Tour at first as their second singer Annette got ill. Floor had just 48 hours to learn the whole setlist. There is a documentary made of this world tour: ‘Please learn the setlist in 48 hours’ Floor joined Nightwish after the iconic Wacken concert in 2013 as permanent member of the band. Floor continued to perform with 'Revamp’ also, but it was clear that she could not combine the two for much longer, so 'Revamp' disbanded in 2016. Floor did a side project called 'Northward' where she dived into the Hard Rock scene. The song 'While Love Died is a must see. Her stunning performances on the Dutch TV show 'Beste Zangers 2019' gave her at last some more recognition in her home country where she was relatively unknown until then. There are numerous guest appearances with other bands to find on KZbin. To see how to get a crowd of metalheads silenced and in awe watch her featuring with the band 'Epica' and the song 'Stabat Mater Dolorosa’ and to see her in full opera mode, watch her rendition of 'O Mio Babbino Caro' from Puccini. As live concerts were cancelled and home isolation due to the Covid situation, Floor discovered KZbin in these years. Mindblowing covers, chats with her idols and other singers, vocal masterclasses, personal insights and so much more. She even made a video reacting to herself singing Ghost Love Score at Wacken. Lots of technical info and some memories of her starting with Nightwish. Also her Fan Friday videos are hilarious. Just unpack some of these and other presents she left on her channel. Also videos of her solotour she did with songs of her impressive career. Her latest endeavour is her stunning solo album ‘My Paragon. Floor is a high sensitive person, so peace and quiet is as important for her. Living by the woods in Sweden with her husband Hannes Van Dahl (drummer of the band Sabaton), daughters Freja (turns 8 years next march) and Lucy (1 year this october),a couple of horses, dogs and cats, she found this.

Hello Cy Metal Reacts [ @CyMetalReacts ] ! Nightwish fan here, your musical quest summoned me. Welcome to the world of symphonic metal! And thank you for checking this legendary band! This music video is the 1st single released in advance from their 10th studio album Yesterwynde (September 20, 2024), featuring Floor Jansen [pronounced Yansen], the 3rd and present female singer of the band, and (at the end) Troy Donockley, multi-instrumentalist and singer. About the instrumental and vocal added parts - it's good to know they recorded their orchestral and vocal back tracks with prestigious institutions as London Philharmonic Orchestra. London's The Metro Voices choir group and London's Young Musicians Children's Choir as their regular partners. Since this is your first Nightwish reaction, it is my duty to give you the [updated] short history of the band concentrated by Ann Waychoff, one of the biggest Nightwish fan who has since passed away (and I am doing this in her memory): " Nightwish was started in 1996.They are considered a Symphonic Metal band, with a female main singer. They are from Finland. Tuomas Holopainen [pronounced Tuo-mas], the keyboard player, composes and writes the lyrics for 95% of their music. [Sami Vanska was the bassist of the band starting with their 2nd studio album, he was with them until 2001. Then Marco Hietala was bassist and vocals, since 2001 to 2020. He recently announced his retirement both from the band and the public life for the next year at least. Then in May 2021 Jukka Koskinen [pronounced Yukka] became the bassist of the band, for the Human :II: Nature tour - and recently, the band announced he became a permanent member] And there is the guitarist Emppu Vuorinen [he also recorded the bass lines for their 1st studio album]. Then there is Troy Donockley from UK who is a multi-instrumentalist and vocals. Jukka Nevalainen [pronounced Yukka] is the drummer. In 2015 due to Jukka's health issues Kai Hahto became the drummer and as of now is a permanent addition. Nightwish has had three singers. 1st one was Tarja Turunen [pronounced Tarr-ya] (Operatic vocals). She was with them until 2005. The 2nd one was Anette Olzon from Sweden (Poppy, strong vocals). She was with them until 2012.The 3rd and current singer is Floor Jansen, from Netherlands (power, operatic, soprano.....most versatile) - you just heard her. There are live concerts that you should use depending on what era. From Wishes to Eternity and End of an Era (Tarja), Montreux Festival live 2012 and Exit Festival (Anette), Live at Wacken 2013, Live at Wembley, Live at Tampere, Vehicle of Spirit, Decades live (Floor). I hope this helps. I want to welcome you to the Nightwish community. I hope you like them enough to continue the journey. Believe me Nightwish will surprise you with their songs. You will never know what to expect. They are unbelievable live. I want to warn you that Nightwish fans are hard core. So be prepared. lol " For an extended set of suggestion (with links), I posted 2 huge comments in the community tab in my main YT channel: www.youtube.com/@gabriel.bardac/community 🤘

let's say "until Micro-Macro era King of Everything is fans' favorite". Now Jinjer fans divided as old and new fans. It's still old fans' favorite. The change is the key of Jinjer's music. No Jinjer album has same vibe, same sound eventhough the crew have been same since 2016. If you want to see the difference old and new Jinjer you can compare Pisces' album version with live studio version you already watched first. For better understanding you should do a deep dive into Micro-Macro albums. You'll see.

Yes this drummer was Dmitry Kim. He took over from a previous drummer who had a tragic accident and couldn't play any longer (sat down in a third story window and fell asleep. Fell out of the window and became paralyzed). Dmitry wasn't really up on touring (the band tours like maniacs) so after King of Everything Vlad took over prior to their next release. Vlad does a very faithful rendition of a lot of the older songs. The songs that originated with him have a very different feel to them. Definitely Pisces on the album is different from the live session which introduced Vlad as their new drummer. There is a live version of their song Cloud Factory and a live version of Who is Gonna be the One (both from their first full length album before they were signed to Napalm) where he definitely improved on the drumming from the original studio versions. Vlad used to do I Speak Astronomy slightly different but on the recent Live in LA release it's pretty much the same as Dmitry's version. Dmitry has a more slash/speed metal style to his playing and Vlad is closer to a jazzy/technical approach but both are excellent. Dmitry Kim has a KZbin channel with an excellent playthrough of Captain Clock. Definitely worth a watch. If you look at some of Vlad's drum playthroughs the differences in styles come through. The studio version of Sit Stay Roll Over is Dmitry and the Live in Melbourne version is Vlad. I would say that the band's sound changed more because Vlad does a lot of composing a little more than it's a different drummer with a different style though.
