I ran a keto 500 in my hometown of forks wa, serial #31 and I ran a newer at the time 800 supreme. I like the fact that they were very light, and could open up to take a bigger log than the 624 waratah, but it ends there. To much monkey motion and the cylinders pull to close. I ran the same 624 for four years and it was old when I climbed onto it. I never had to repack cylinders after work or redo saw motor seals etc. etc. I imagine in nice for and timber thats not cobby or wolfy it would shine for lots of hours but in big spruce and heavy limby hemlock, they start puking lots of oil and fall apart fast. Even with the most dedicated maintenance done to them, they still start breaking up.

The new Keto Harvesters have come a long way in terms of strength, reliability, and build quality. They are typically much lighter than the competition as well. While no head is suited for every application, the new Keto Harvesters do shine in the right application.

I can never figure out the point of these heads. so much slower then a hotsaw. The only time where it would make more sense is around powerlines and buildings.

+Uwe Henseler Today, there are Quadco hotsaws that can come close to cutting the 29" trees (26" & 28"), but that was not always the case. The hotsaws weigh more than the 2900. The weight of the 2900 allows for a smaller machine to be used. This 2900 Intermittent also has control over the tree before the cut, unlike the hotsaws that need to grab the tree after being cut. It is also easier to shovel-log some trees with an Intermittent saw, as the saw retracts out of the way. The intermittent is also great around power lines.

+QuadcoEquipmentinc I didnt realize that is would cut a 29" tree. there for the 2900 I assume. I ran Quadco hot saws for years and loved them.

For big wood, steep ground and mud I prefer an intermittent saw. I run a 26B Quadco hotsaw and it's an excellent head but in ugly rock and giant wood the intermittent style work better imo😎☺

The 552 is actually a really big buncher, For instance I'm 6ft 4inch tall and I can easily walk under the back of the machine. I think it looks not quite so big cause the way it's designed but I'll bet it's every bit as big as the 959k, and way heavier. (Better Built)

This saw is twice as fast as my Komatsu XA233.

I believe it is their biggest.

Thanks for the comment. The machine is actually a 552 Series 2. It's definitely big enough to handle the head! We used to offer the accumulator arms as an option on the 5660. The demand was not there for the accumulator arms, so they were removed.
