Honestly, in just a few questions; Roger could've absolutely *DESTROYED* Marge's whole argument. Was your daughter who hurt your husband your only daughter? Do your other children act in this way from watching my show? Do both you and your husband work or just you?

When this episode was created, the irony was about the evident bias of the media and all the other guests being on board with the industry and violence... the irony now is that we live in a word where freedom of expression is dying and it's completely the other way around: Marge won in the end.

Anyone else notice it’s a bit odd that a prime time show in the US has Dr Monroe live from Vienna… and it’s daytime in Vienna? Wouldn’t it be like sometime between midnight and 6am in Vienna during prime time hours in the US? I hope someone got fired for that blunder!

Shouldn't America have a problem with broadcasting violence anyway? It's funny that in real life nobody cares about violence.

This was back in the weird old days where Krusty was surprisingly upbeat and Dr. Marvin Monroe was an essential part of the town. I like to think he’s still about somewhere, but I guess he just fell out of public interest.

Lisa: You know, I think that if parents would spend less time worrying about what their kids watch on TV, and more time worrying about what's going in in their kid's lives, this world would be a much better place. Bart: Yeah, I think that parents only get so offended by television because the rely on it as a babysitter, and the sole educator of their kids.

I've always hated Itchy and Scratchy, I called it Chuck Jones's worst nightmare, a horrid cartoon that should never even exist, they're literally watching a poor cat get tortured and they think it's funny, a lot of cartoon cats often live brutal lives, Tom, Sylvester, Mr jinks, Catnip, Garfield, etc, but Scratchy has it worse, his torture has gone too far, enough is enough, it's time to end Itchy and Scratchy for good, it's gone too long like SpongeBob has, it's time to kill Itchy off and send him to a cartoon hell of sorts

whats cool is they give the 'square' position a fair hearing. Marge is reasonable even though cartoon censorship would probably be unpopular among the writers and the audience. In fact the side they're rooting for is cast as the institutional goliath. You'd be hard pressed for this nuance in the modern era.

I agree, itchy and scratchy is violent, but the violence is too over the top to be disturbing. Some anime meanwhile very non violent and cute but somehow need to shoe horn panty shots of elementary school girls. I was shocked when I read Cardcaptor Sakura when I realize there's a subplot of a love story between a teacher and an elementary school girl.....

Am I the only person who supports marge here?! Itchy and Scratchy is an example of the low quality entertainment that plagues society, needless violence targeted towards kids just to make money. What happened to educational programs? Even if itchy and scratchy doesnt cause violence (which it does in the episode) its basically brainrot that is the reason characters like Bart are as stupid as they are. Children who grew up with education shows like Sesame Street have been proven to show much higher levels of success in school and it is believed that these shows can positively affect the growing mind contrary to brain rot which is known to shorten the attention span of children and in extreme cases give them a mental addiction to the show, all of that without the benefits of education.

Meyers could have won if he wasn't so obsessed with being a jerk: He's not doing anything illegal, he's not forcing anyone to watch I&S, it's not his job to look after kids, and Marge should have kept a closer eye on Maggie.

No, because without viewership the show would just die out and all the parents forced their kids to stop watching it.

Ah Marge, showing that even 33 years ago the busybodies of the world were still saying "it's not MY fault my child is terrible, it's this thing that's on the TV that's to blame, I'm a GOOD parent." When they could just not let them watch it, but no, better to complain and take things away from everyone because you're not willing to police a 1 year old.
@BrandonBDN Жыл бұрын
No but it wasnt her fault??? She is consistently shown as an amazing mother throughout the show and its not her fault violent programs are targeting and indoctrinating children.
