@BrendanMirandaАй бұрын
@@SatongiFilms I agree with all of that haha! I’ve experienced 2 crashes in a month of using Resolve. I usually crash a minimum 3 times per project with Premiere. If I had to guess my lifetime Premiere crashes I’m probably in the thousands.
@whitebeartigtigАй бұрын
Today is the day I finally completely abandoned Adobe software, well with the exception of a few lesser used ones, but still pretty much done with it. When I started video editing, I had a choice between using Premiere Pro and Davinci Resolve. Back then I chose Premiere Pro because I was already using Photoshop, so it made sense. I just wish I started with Resolve back then, it would have saved me so many hours of pain, suffering and frustration. Also switched to Affinity about a month back, and it's been such a great experience. If you haven't already given that a go, do, you won't regret it. I started editing my first video in Resolve today, and I got more done in 10 mins having never even used the software than I do in Premiere in an hour. It is honestly insane. Oh and I can just dump my MKV files from OBS directly into Resolve and it just takes it, it was a 150GB 24 hour long video file too, and it loaded the thing in about 10 seconds. Now my PC isn't great or anything being about 10 years old, it has an i7 5930K and GTX 1080, and the fact that this thing runs super smoothly is awesome. In premiere, simply pressing play would cause a 3-10 second delay, or sometimes straight up crash the entire program. Haven't got to the stage of rendering with Resolve yet, but it's gotta be better than dealing with media encoder, which likes to make my PC bluescreen for absolutely no good reason at all. I am a Premiere Pro user of about 5 years, and I have hated every last second of it. The fact that I've been paying Adobe for software that barely even works is insane, and now they want to claim licences to our work, yeah I'm so done with Adobe.

Do you suggest the Helios 44-2 or Helios 44-4 for more of that swirly bokeh?
@BrendanMiranda2 ай бұрын
They’re about the same. I think the 44-2 might have a tiny bit more but the swirly bokeh kind of depends on the size of your sensor more, you’ll see more on a full-frame sensor. I’d say just get whichever is priced better, the 44M-4 has a slightly more modern rugged feel to it, whereas the 44-2 feels a little bit older. Can’t go wrong with either imo.

Came here from your Film Booth post. I'm glad I did. It's an engaging video with great visuals, a great story, and a great voiceover. I watched to the end. Take it or leave it but two things bugged me. The subs are tiny on my phone with poor contrast. They just distracted me. Also, the music is too loud for me. You speak quickly and your voice was competing with the music. Sometimes I couldn't keep up with what you were saying. The subs aren't a big deal, but the volume of the music very nearly caused me to quit pretty early on. Anyway, you've got a lot of talent. I'll subscribe.
@BrendanMiranda3 ай бұрын
Thank you for the kind words and constructive criticism. I am glad you found it engaging, I thought I was going crazy because my edits usually have energy throughout. Moving forward I will watch the volume on the music (I might have accidentally raised it a few db when I put limiting on the master) and maybe scale the subtitles up a bit more if I choose to use them again. 😎👍🏻
@alex-on-words3 ай бұрын
@@BrendanMiranda I personally don't think you need the subs for this kind of content. The moment when they particularly distracted me was the striking shot of the fish around 3:05. I don't know, I'm nitpicking, but perhaps these details matter.
@BrendanMiranda3 ай бұрын
@@alex-on-words you are mostly 100% correct on that note, these were placed there more for aesthetic than anything. I considered removing them a few times, but overall liked the way it shifted the vibe slightly and made me focus on the voiceover more with the visuals complimenting the VO rather than the VO complimenting the visuals.

Just showed up, but I know that when you bring out the word "dude" that it is getting serious...I found early on how important it is for me to stay original and not follow trends. First thing I decided for me was to never beg for subscriptions, Second thing is to strive to not make a video just because I think it will "perform" that is, to build what I want to build, then just happen to film it. I want to get this right. The spirit of youtube is alive, it is just breathing hard under a pillow.

Couldn’t agree more. I’ve never really asked for subs, if I have I’ve made it clear that they don’t have to if I didn’t provide any value. I am the type of person that doesn’t hand out subs like candy so I definitely understand if other people are also choosy with who they sub to. Thanks for watching. 🤙🏻😎

@@BrendanMiranda you have to move a certain kind of way to make money, tiktok for example is extremely profitable and so are most short content platforms. it can be a bit unpleasant to condense and strip down your craft to such a degree, but it is the most effective way to make money with it. 3 one minute clips a day will make much more money than a well thought out 10 minute video, not even counting sponsorships and ads additional to just having a good view count and engagement
