Hi mate just a quick question for you if I may? I’ve got a Stihl f91 and recently had some heavy brambles to get through so went to buy a mulching blade the same as yours. However the guy from the small independent shop I bought it from assured me the correct way to fit the blade was with the fins pointing upwards when in use. I noticed you fit yours with them pointing down. I always assumed the fins should be pointing downwards until this guy confused the old noggin lol. Which is correct?
@gorillagroundsandgardens
@gorillagroundsandgardens 3 күн бұрын
Definitely pointing down. Works best and won't hit the guard. We like our fs91 for brambles over the fs94. The 4 mix gives a better power delivery for bramble munching.

@@gorillagroundsandgardens thanks 🙏 that’s cleared that up for me, I’ll be giving it a go the correct way round later 👍. Yes I love my fs91, plenty of power for my needs, starts easily every time and runs like a watch, very impressed with it. Thanks again and best wishes 👍 👍

This is a Hitachi nail gun with 50mm galvanised nails. It is heavy but doesn't require gas which is really nice.

We use resin remover. Stihl make their own. Other than that letting them dry out and lubricating them before they go away helps too.

Biggest "to date". That was 7 months ago. Have you cut any bigger? It's difficult to think that they even exist.
@gorillagroundsandgardens

Nothing bigger since this one. We have done projects with multiple trees larger, this was just an enormous volume of material from one tree.

@@gorillagroundsandgardens How do rate the difficulty of removing a tree? Tree height, trunk diameter, volume of material, proximity to things you cannot damage, or something else?

What’s that used around the base of the posts?
@gorillagroundsandgardens
@gorillagroundsandgardens 21 күн бұрын
Those are post savers. They protect the post around ground level where it is more likely to rot. When correctly installed will add 5 years+ to the life of the post.

Why did you make the notch almost 60% of the trees diameter on a leaning tree under compression?
@gorillagroundsandgardens
@gorillagroundsandgardens 21 күн бұрын
The start of the video is showing a bore cut in preparation for what we call a dog tooth. The notch was only around 15-20% of the tree behind the hinge.

Do you prefer stihl saw or kress saw? Thanks, you did a great job 👍🏻
@gorillagroundsandgardens
@gorillagroundsandgardens 27 күн бұрын
The power delivery on the kress saw I would say is superior to the Stihl. The Stihl is a more professional saw with the felling sights, captive bar nuts etc. For felling I would choose the Stihl all day but for bucking and cutting firewood the kress would be the winner.

Is this a school on how to cut fallen trees? I have worked more than thirty years Logging, running a sawmill and now I can see why people complain about the cost to cut tree's by this new type of faller, maybe i am old school but we got the job done in half the time!!!!
@gorillagroundsandgardens

This is a course for dealing with windblown trees. Where we are qualifications and competence is required for insurance and safe working. Old school may be faster but comes with a higher risk of death or injury.
