Hard to believe there was a time in America we're there were so many choices, trucks engineered and design with practicality and value , unlike today's trucks, excessively large and complicated, design criteria focused on size styling and maximum profit, I would take any one of these trucks over any new truck today, Thanks for perseving American automotive history.

I would love to have one with the 4.3 Liter V6 engine as I feel it had one of the best powertrains in a smaller pickup.

86 chevette was my first car in 97. It was passed down through my family as a first car. It was horrible. SLOW and hard to steer. Brakes went to the floor and it diddnt run in the rain. It would also shake for several minutes AFTER I turned it off and parked it. It was hilarious. I would be walking away after parking and it would be shaking and making these crazy clunking sounds. I sold it in 99 for $200 before i moved across country. Oh yeah, The fabric on the interior roof was hanging down and I stapled it. I also had to wire these old school wooden speakers meant for a home stereo system to the tape deck and laid them down in the back hatch back space. I smoked a lot of pot in HS and the car was so slow it was perfect hahahaha.

i just got one and it might end up as my second vheicle. It definitely falls into the 'so ugly its cute' realm. I can't wait to get it fully checked over, maybe have some suspension components changed... Its a fun little car. Only thing is that i wish it had a stickshift. The vheicle handles suprisingly well in turns, at least thus far.

The narrator forgot to mention - fold down the rear seat, and 12 sheets of 4x8 sheetrock or plywood can also be easily transported.

Thank you for preserving this! I was a whitewater raft guide on the New River back then and a few of us watched them film it from a switchback on Fayette Station Road. They dropped it multiple times, tho - 3, if my memory is correct. They moved the crane off the bridge out of the shot each time after they got the truck set up. But yeah, a dude rode the headache ball down each time to connect the hook to the truck. Thanks again for preserving this! A great memory from a great time in my life!

Wild that there was supposed to be all three for '92, and that they even went as far as making this dealer demo with the "'92 Syclone," but the truck was canceled in the 11th hour. Such a bummer.

There is no way on earth cavalier can tow 4800 lbs. Thats nearly double its own weight. Guarantee that is wrong. Otherwise all these looked nice, great color availability and very nice interiors compared to todays dark, dreary dungeons inside

Primary competitors...Ford Bronco II. I guess when they made this no one at GM knew the Explorer was coming. Or could predict how much it would shift SUV sales to the suburbs. I'm not a big Ford fan. But they really did create the right vehicle at the right time with the Explorer.

Fast forward to 2024....make the thermostat housing one entire assembly....and make it out of plastic! And put a clause in the warranty that if its used to full payload it voids the warranty! Meanwhile at Ford: put a rubber timing belt in the engine....no seal it inside the engine with the oil....and do the same for the oil pump! And any part that's not the block or head needs to be plastic! No not that! The cheapest plastic! Its got to last....4 years. Meanwhile at Jeep: This wiring loom is already splitting and corroded from the supplier?....chuck it on there who cares. Marketing will offer free roadside assistance.
