Thanks for the video. I just ordered one off Amazon because of prime days and free shipping. It was a little over $500, normally $545. It's my first thermal anything, and it's not for hunting, just checking stuff around the house. What did the dog bark at in the dark in the field behind my house? Is there a redtail was in the nearby tree when I let my smaller dog outside? Anyway - it's something I did a lot of comparing and for my use case, it should be more than adequate. Of course we always want the best, but sometimes less is good enough :) And I'm not willing to drop a couple grand on something I use not-that-much.

If you run white hot in tree cover with the micro 160 you will have better results. The red hot in the 160 is horrible. Someone asked about squirrel hunting/ finding. Yes it works but once the sun heats up the canopy it gets hard. But if they are out on the trunks running around its great.

I have a black and tan female a year old she's got potential especially at night so far all she's done is tree a possum I don't have anyone around me with any coon dogs so it's hard to train her

I would suggest you find someone who already has a dog that need hunted & learn there first. I’ve seen several guys go out & buy a dog just to tie it out behind the house & go to waist

Hey Nick, new to coons but I’m very interested in the lifestyle. I’ve bred and raised labs for duck hunting. Question: I’m in NW Montana, you mention getting them out in the woods, we have grizzly, black bear and big mountain lion here. We can run dogs to train and I intend on running them on black bear and mountain lion. Would you still take them out or run them a little closer given the risk in the mountains/woods here. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks!

They love dry cat food as well. I have a feral cat I feed so she doesn't kill everything in sight . What she doesn't eat the crows will. They'll wait in the trees till she walks away then swoop in. I'm backed up to my woods. The crows were going ape shit so I went in to see what was going on . They were attacking a hawk . Peanuts. Corn Cat food, bread.just get them on your property. In most ways, i agree. However, it has also kept the sport alive to younger generations who may have not found it, if not for the sporty side of it. It's a two edged sword for sure. I do believe it has done more damage to the breeds than good.
