Forgive me if this is a silly question, but how did you mount and set up your fish finder? Any drilling or cutting?

You only have a few videos but they are good. Get back to it if you can, a little refining and editing. You remind me a little of Elias V with the New York thing. Your in depth video of the Hook 10.5 was great. I just picked up a used one for very cheap and am working on it. That makes kayak number 4. Keep making those videos, subscribed :)

Does anyone know or have a link to a tackle tray that fits the front deck well? All the ones I can find are either way too small, or slightly too big

Nice video bro! I just bought the perception 9.5 cause it fits in my SUV. I is a great choice over the other budget kayaks, took it out in Great river this weekend, and I know you know where that is! You demonstrated some very nice ideas and I will use them! I am planning my first fishing trip this weekend opposite Oak beach. This kayak does lack flotation devices inside, and there is a company that makes them, kinda like balloons for the bow and stern, if I find the name I will share it with you!

Do you have a link to the mount for the fish finder? And did that specific fish finder come with the water proof cable or no?

I bought the same kayak. Really tracks well Have you tried installing and running the trolling motor on that side bracket? Does the weight of the motor cause a balance problem.

Great vid. I have been looking at the Old Town Vapor and then ran across this and a couple other Sound/Hook vids and am thinking of going with one of these. Does anyone know how they handle in class 1 rapids on a river?

You would be more than ok in class 1...I have never used this boat on a river, but have been out in some serious swell in the inlet and inshore bays, and I'm always impressed with this kayaks stability for its size. Perception does make a spray skirt for this kayak for $50, and if you were going to encounter any higher class rapids, it may be a worthy investment...Only problem is you would not have access to the "cockpit" dashboard as it would be covered by the skirt.

I'm getting this kayak here in the next week or so, super excited after seeing your video! I noticed that you didn't show how you mounted your transducer. Anyway you can show us? Thanks!
@lbkayakangler3164
@lbkayakangler3164 7 жыл бұрын
erikthizzin so basically I did the "marine goop" method. Actually I used clear "flex shot" silicone adhesive. Basically you put a big wad of silicone in a circle. Taking care not to make bubbles in the silicone. The work the transducer slowly into it until it's basically in contact with the hull. Let it dry and presto! Only issue is that the water temp reading isn't accurate. But outside of that the finder works great. Scotty also makes a transducer mount, but if you get in shallow water or launch and land frequently, that's kind of a pain. So I opted for the goop method. And bring a small pool thermometer to get accurate water temps.

@@lbkayakangler3164 so the entire transducer is still inside your kayak? Didn't make any holes?

Great video, just picked up the same wheels and axle. Cal you tell me about your cart setup, pvc si, e and what you used to insert into the scupper holes? Thanks.
@lbkayakangler3164
@lbkayakangler3164 7 жыл бұрын
Hey rich...The whole set up is 1 inch schedule 40 PVC which fits perfectly in the scupper holes in the "bed" of the yak. My wheels were off an old garbage can, but I may upgrade to some wheels from Harbor Frieght...You could use some threaded rod for the axel too, I literally just drilled holes in the elbows on the PVC to pass the axel through, and that seems to be enough. If you take on water, i would empty it first before trying to load up a pvc cart, the weight could be an issue...But with just my fishing crate...It has served me well!

LBKayakAngler thanks for the reply, I ended up building one on Monday pretty much like yours. My wheels are from a full size garbage toter so they're a bit bigger and the axle is wider. I've got a bunch of stuff en route to customize my "hook". Can't wait!

Ben Saunders thanks man! Some bigger fish just started moving into my bays here on long island so stay strong the big girls are coming. So far a lot of schoolies so I'm going to do a montage video of all the diaper stripers and then hopefully get into some bigger fish as the water warms up. Thanks for the comment man and good luck out there!
