Less is more sometimes- I know this piece very well, but this is the first time I've heard it with just the piano, which makes one hear the voice even more clearly, I wouldn't say it's the best I've heard, but the best is usually under studio conditions when they can retake if they don't like how it sounds, where is this is live so even though it's not the best version I've ever heard IT'S THE BEST LIVE VERSION I'VE EVER HEARD!!

I must admit, I am used to the Sutherland recording of this, with all the range and heft she brings. Obviously, I did not expect Lott to match this, but still found myself enjoying her deliciously phrased performance. She moves fleetly through the bolero with a shining tone, and OH MY GOD, she caps it with a high E - I DID NOT know she had it in her! It might not be the sort of high E that qualifies you for Zerbinetta or Lakmé, but it's a high E, and it's LIVE!

I was hoping for a real veneto dialect, this is pronounced as a standard Italian version 😢. I am studying these pieces and it would help if the top artists actually learnt it correctly.

Just how beautiful is that? My favourite version of this piece was by Kiri, but I think the music is so beautiful that anyone who can sing, and Anna certainly can, would make it sound simply wonderful.

Horrible singing, lack of all fundamentals of a good voice, like squillo, appogio, chiaroscuro, chest voice, open throat and I can continue... Shame how these modern singers have destroyed the long tradition of amazing operatic voices. Try listen this aria with Callas, Tebaldi, Caballe, Souliotis, and so on

I agree. Way too many opera “aficionados” simply can’t get past the recordings of their favorite singers (doubtful that they ever saw them onstage), and find fault with young singers of this generation, many of who are spectacular.

I saw Jessye Norman sing Marguerite in London back in 1989, and this clip brings so much joy flooding back. A truly incomparable voice and artist. Jessye, you are missed ❤
