I prefer using the Zoom F3 mounted on the back end of a boom pole which provides counter balance to the mic. The F3 records and provides phantom power and there are no noise issues. Simpler more professional setup.

everyone seems to forget the F3 lacks timecode, which is required on my sets.

Thanks for the Video! I was wondering what you think would be the best option if somebody has a hairy chest and you want to stick it directly to the shirt. Because the problem would be the Lav is facing the wrong direction towards the body. Or is it possible to turn the Lav inside the Lav Concealer and let it face out of the back of the Lac Concealer and stick this part to the shirt? Wondering what you think.
@dqstudios15 күн бұрын
Great question! I wouldn't advise turning the mic within the concealer as the pickup would be facing the BB concealer material, muffling the sound. If extremely hairy, I would suggest using a chest strap like this one: bhpho.to/3Pm51C2 I've found it works great with the exception on super-tight fitting shirts and spandex.

I was about to buy it....but I didn't...I noticed no where was it indicated to work with other Gimbals, like DJI RS-2 or RS-3PRO etc, I have all these Gimbals. Other Sliders at the same price point work with Gimbals and will let you set points A-B and the Gimbal will not just be slide to those points, but intelligently controls the Gimbal to Focus on the subject that was set by user at the initial set-up. I was thinking of buying two of the sliders, that's was my deal breaker.
@dqstudiosАй бұрын
Adding a gimbal will be a totally different experience and will definitely increase setup time (balancing, battery, etc) so it’s an entirely different use case, not to mention length of slide. It really depends on what you’re using the slider for. I don’t often need to use such advanced movements in the real world, and prefer a faster setup vs more complicated, but your needs may differ.

You really need to test these outdoors, not indoors.
@dqstudiosАй бұрын
I use other tools outdoors - from Bubblebees long hair wind killer to a Rycote blimp, but that is not where most of my interviews are done #differentusecase
@burnspeteАй бұрын
So no need for furry covers indoors in your case. An extra outdoor review would have been so useful to people considering buying windshields.
@dqstudiosАй бұрын
@@burnspete I do see the merit in furry testing outdoors, but I guess I should have prefaced that I was primarily testing the transparency of sound with each kit, which is better tested in the quiet of the indoors.

You're not recommending Xvive anymore, yet you're still endorsing it with this video 😄 I guess you just don't want to waste those 6k views on KZbin... Zoom F6 sounds better than the combo of Track E with battery powered P48 attached? Of course it does! F6 is still Zoom's flagship recorder, and Track E (although great in what it does) is not even in the same category.

I just picked up a cobra 3 carbon fiber pedal. If you have experience with that model and could compare it to the strike, would you say the strike is more stable at higher levels? What I noticed about mine is that the bottom adjustment is thinner and it gets thicker towards the top. Which is opposite of what you’d think is necessary for stability. The strike looks like it gets like the opposite. I don’t like that the strike doesn’t go as low for compact carry. Just curious.

God bless you DQ Studios. I still have the belt clips that you sold for holstering flashes. I now use it to easily clip on/off audio lavs. Now I will consider the toprig 60. Sliders should be easy to use and not ridiculously priced. This hits a sweet spot.

Alternative solution: cut a rubber patch from thin kitchen rubber gloves, put the patch on top of the aeropress cyllinder and press the plugder through the patch. The patch will act as an additional seal to prevent leakage.

Really nice video. Thanks. I wonder how would the new Tilta travel video head compare to the SmallRig. Also, I find it interesting that you are trying to save every gram possible on the head but you are rocking a V-mount battery with the FX3 instead of a bunch of Sony batteries. :)
@dqstudiosАй бұрын
Haha .. good point on the battery ... I shoot documentary films with long takes. I prefer a larger battery that powers everything vs changing camera batteries, monitor batteries etc ...

@@dqstudios yeah, powering monitor too makes sense. Those NP-F would be heavy and bulky too otherwise

I do own and like NPF batteries too (especially the new versions with USBC PD built in), but find they make my rig front-heavy when attached to the monitor. VMount at the back balances the camera better for hand-holding. But rigging is soooo a personal thing.

How’s the non motor operation with a proper tripod head? Possible and smooth?
@dqstudiosАй бұрын
Smooth yes: but without a flywheel for inertia, I find the easing in and out the hardest to control well. I still prefer my Syrp Pro with its integrated flywheel in the tripod base, but it's heavier and I don't like the motorization options. So far there's no one-slider that can do it all best, but each one has its strength. Sorry to not have better news.
