Probably the biggest reason this wasn't featured in the actual show is that where mangas are dirt cheap in Japan, anime physical releases are prohibitively expensive even for Westerners (usually a one-cour season of 12 eps is gonna be split into 3 volumes of 4 episodes each and set you back at a minimum $100 per volume). So you gotta give your buyers nice perks like this! Second reason would be that this is set after Victor & Yuri's romantic pair skate at the very end of the last episode of the series, and it doesn't really fit in thematically or mood-wise where they're ending on an inspiring high with Yuri stating that they call everything on the ice love (have you noticed in that last scene where Yuri runs towards Victor, Yurio is there with them? they are in Russia together, training & preparing for Victor's professional return to the ice while he also remains Yuri's coach, probably in St Petersburg). The coolest fact about Otabek is that when he's not being a professional skater, he accepts the occasional DJing gig at a local venue XD And yes, we all ship them like mad, only Otabek with his no nonsense attitude can tame that Russian tiger cub ^^

the wildest thing about the glove scene is that it was completely unplanned. SPOILERS FROM THE WELCOME TO THE MADNESS MANGA (which explains the beforehand of this whole situation) this wasn't even supposed to be yuri's exhibition, he decided he didn't want to skate to his original exhibition program which was made by lilia. he heard this song in a club otabek was djing at which he sneaked in, and went "this is it!!!1" and he choreographed it in one night with the help of otabek. when he watched yuuri's exhibition and saw victor there he got mad and wanted otabek to be in his, like, a few minutes before he skated his exhibition program. they're WILD.

some extra info about this: this is intended to be the exhibition skate of yurio, which he came up with the night before the performance (replacing one choreographed by lilia that he'd been skating the whole season) lol. you can see the story of how this happened in a short manga oneshot (which you can find online) under the same name of 'welcome to the madness'. he asked otabek to go on the ice with him after see victor skate with yuuri, cause he wanted to one up them, haha.

I think a romantic relationship between Yurio and Otabek was hinted judging by how they looked when they went out together (eating dinner at a restaurant like a date) and the motorbike scene haha I loved your reactions!! I wish we had a season 2

If you want more you should react to 'The Chihoko Drama'! It was a live reading by the voice actors at the 'Yuri on Stage' event (which was where the movie was announced RIP😢) and it's HILARIOUS! There's a recording of it on youtube with english subs, but there is also a fanmade dub (that's actually really well done) which you may prefer. I recommend looking up what a "shachihoko" is beforehand for context.

The series truly was the two lady creators' love letter to skating as a sport. Their appreciation came through loud & clear, so I think beside the mlm angle that's what really attracted ppl to the story. I still tear up when I hear Phichit & JJ talk about their dreams & aspirations this episode, and like most I am not even a JJ enjoyer! There is no chance of any kind of continuation, unfortunately. I'm not sure if the IP belongs to MAPPA or how all of that works in Japan, but long story short they led fans on for 7 years, lied about reviewing and getting closer to completing the project so it's better for the fans, and did the creators downright filthy. Like I'm sure these poor women don't wanna relive all of that again... All this because MAPPA managed to get their greedy little hands on big shounens like SNK, JJK, Vinland Saga, and CSM in the interim. In contrast when the creators first pitched YoI I guess MAPPA believed it was going to flop & hence they failed to invest in it. They are basically at the very bottom of the totem pole of production companies which invested in YoI's production, and conversely got the smallest returns when YoI became an overnight hit bestseller. Their CEO said as much, so it's all about money & screw the loyal fans. For that reason I choose to avoid MAPPA as much as possible. As far as I'm concerned they peaked with Banana Fish in 2018 and it's been downhill from there. Either way, the movie was going to be a prequel/Victor's backstory, not what happened after the events of S1. Please don't forget to react to Welcome to the Madness short!

Yeah its REALLY so sad it got cancelled. And they said there isn't enough demand anymore for it so they could cover the expanses after so much delay... Thats probably true when you know how man a Mappa production costs. I just hate them for making us wait so many years for nothing, giving zero updates etc... I got to hate Mappa so much over the years that i try to avoid them as much as possible 🙄😤

Yeah Stolas definitely became my favorite character in this episode, I adore him! That scene with Octavia was so good, I don't think anyone expected such a heartfelt moment from this show, least of all with the horny owl prince xD
