Hi! I got a question, is it a good idea choose the surname 龙 as part of my Chinese name? a friend of mine has a nice but aggressive Chinese name which is 龙啸天 And what about 刘？ That surname means "to kill or to slaughter," crazy to me. Is 刘可优 a name? However I personally prefer 李泊挺 but I'm not sure if it's a good Chinese name for me.

龙 is a not a common surname but still an option if you like dragon or your original surname sounds similar to it. Chinese people do not connect 刘 with the meaning of kill, so don't worry if you chose it. For me, 刘可优 sounds like a girl's name, while 李伯挺 is much more like a men's name. However, I will recommend you chose 庭tíng or 廷tíng , which are more common.

Thank you for an interesting video. I plan to use either 高理 or 高天棋 for my Chinese name. My surname sounds like "gao1-li3", my family is tall, my given name (Ted) sounds similar to "tian1" or "tian4", I play board games (围棋) and I'm a software person (理). Do you think I should use a 3-syllable name, or a 2?

In Taiwan, most of people use 3-syllable name. And as I know, more and more people in China use 3-syllable name nowadays. So I may recommend you to choose 高天棋. In addition, it's very interesting to hear your name's story, you may have a connection between someone also interests in 圍wéi 棋qí . :)

Hi, 杨恒屹 sounds very original and like a real Chinese name. Both 恒and 屹 conveys you are a persistent and unshakable person. I think it's an excellent name. ^^
