Wish I was closer, would be great to learn under a skilled mentor, such as yourself. When trail braking clicked for me at road speed, it was a great leap in my confidence. Over time, I began to use front brake nearly exclusively. At first, relying on rear brake only for slow speed maneuvers, then gradually only using only front for that also. I'm not suggesting this is a good thing, maybe I just got lazy moving my foot(more things to work on!). I do still use rear for loose traction(i e. gravel) or scrubbing speed the occasional time I feel I'm coming into a turn too hot, but it's rare. In thinking about the geometry, even at slow speed it seems to make sense. Front braking shortens our wheel base and pitches our bikes attitude to be favorable for turn in. Overlap that with some throttle/clutch drive and that tensions up the drive train, removing slop, plus gives slight lift to the rear and slight compression to the front, further improving motorcycle attitude for turn in. Just some rambling thoughts, lol. So much to learn and I'm thirsty for the knowledge. Really like your channel, always look forward to the newest one! Keep up the great work!

The front brake is the main 'stopping brake'No need to use the rear at low speed like in the video EXCEPT to balance the bike a little, perhaps on a downhill. Enduro riders who have a far higher level of skill than normal road riders use the rear for balance ,front as the main stopping brake.There are a few exceptions -end of. Other riders who claim to only use the front brake at higher speeds all the time have poor riding skills whatever they tell you.

@@johnduheaume6650it‘s the momentum that gets you down. Happened to me as well, ‚earlier in the day‘ so to speak. Could have happened with the foot brake as well, since you already turned inwards and were leaned in. Wouldn‘t hold my breath I‘d make it better everytime now, but it tought me to be prepared better, control the reflex and lean uo/out before getting full on the brake. The front brake just happens to accelerate the downward motion more than the rear - but the physics are the same. Drive safe.

@@bigbud8460 if you’re going under 5 mph rear brake will help. I certainly wouldn’t use the front brake in a slow race. Great subject! I am a civilian riding a police road king. I have adapted the front trail brake technique and it really works well. On the Harley, getting to full lock as quick as possible is the priority and the trailing off the front brake as you start the turn speeds up the handlebar turn. I am new at it so currently only practicing this on a longer straight away into a tight turn.
@Slowcalcones
@Slowcalcones Ай бұрын
@@Old-n-slo-locked-n-leaned excellent! Yes, it is very helpful getting the bike to lean over and getting to fully locked faster. It also helps as you transition from R/L turns if you give a little bit of front brake as the bars start to near straight. It’ll help you get them turned quicker. The biggest thing that didn’t “click” right away was still being on the brake while simultaneously setting the clutch and throttle. Once I figured it out, it’s made a huge difference.
