I was brought up in South Australia (Port Adelaide) until the age of 28. Fished it many times. Only found a couple of big ones in those years.

When I lived at Tin can bay in Qld about 10 years ago. I caught a 70cm flatty and thought that was brilliant. About 3 months later I caught one at 120cm and I was in shock, the oldies in the area said catching them that size was normal back in the 70s. Yes I released them both unharmed and the lure I used was a little purple lure by jackal who has since stopped making that lure. It was a shallow diver about 55mm long and I could catch flatties everytime with it without fail.

Incredible capture mate! A memory that will be embedded in your mind for life. Well done 🏆👌

@@CoastfishTV Hi, yes it's one of those memories that you think about every day and not too many people believe you unless they've had the metre plus miracle. If you get the chance to go to Cooloola cove near Tin can bay and find Muller's CK and go out to the mouth about 100metres out on low tide incoming with the previously mentioned colour lure and you may be lucky enough to catch a big girl like I did, it will blow your mind. Be aggressive with the twitch when winding in as those big girls get excited big time with that technique. All the best mate.

Also mate, I've taken kayak and boat out there but it's not as good as walking the flats, but wear good shoes as the green sea toad fish and massive long Tom's there will have a go at your toes and right now is when the big flatties are bitting full on.

John Williams was a composer that was once in a life time! Star Wars, Raiders of lost Ark, close encounters, jaws and many more, he could evoke emotion and excitement with classical instruments. Especially Jaws brought nightmares to my childhood with that ballad alone❤
