I live in a small town on the outskirts of Cadiz. There are two issues as I see it. First of all, yes, tourism does drive up local prices not only for accommodation but all manner of services. That being said, I know a lot of Spanish natives (I am British but have been here for nearly 30 years), they in some cases will of course put rental prices up in high tourist season. However, this is not a new concept; it has been this way as long as I have lived here. So, what has changed? In my opinion from speaking to property owners, they are almost afraid to rent cheap properties as they do not and in fact are not backed by the government when it comes to the growing issues of squatters. The squatters also know this and so the cycle continue to increase in speed and dimension. The root issue lies in the fact that so many people or living in very precarious economic situations, driving a submerged economy and the prevalence of squatting and petty theft etc. Tourism plays a part, both good and bad. The bigger issue though is the failing national economy, and it is not just Spain.

This is actually a well-informed and balanced take, I can see that you have a lot of experience. I was planning to make a video about the squatting problem, particularly for foreigners looking to buy a house in Spain, who often have a really rosy picture of Spain as some kind of sunny paradise

Tourism as we knew it no longer exists. We are living in a globalized world with no barriers. It's time for us to change our perspective.
@HolisticSelf-Improvement

Thanks for your comment. One thing I notice about globalization is that you tend to see the same kind of trendy shops and chains everywhere and other things that are often referred to as ''hipster'' or ''yuppy'' by people who are against it. I actually like, for example, being able to eat Korean food or actually good Italian food in Spain whereas in the past it would be really hard to find anything else but the local cuisine, which is of course great but people from more ''cosmopolitan'' places are used to a greater diversity of options. I'm from a country where Asian food has been really common for decades. But the downside about this aspect of globalization is that a lot of places in the world just feel increasingly similar. Whether you go to Prague or Athens, it's just increasingly kinda the same vibe. This is actually logical considering how globalization works. But I think it's good to also have some attention for the less than rosy sides of it - and in this comment I'm actually discussing a rather innocent part of it. The wealthy expats pushing locals out of cities part, for example, is a lot less innocent.
@jaromor8808
@jaromor8808 23 күн бұрын
1) You are complaining about people who bring money to your city. 2) As for "Expensive housing" - this merely means that you KNOW IN ADVANCE which way the real estate market shall trend (of course, NOTHING is ever 100% guarantee.) Act accordingly: gather couple of friends, write a contract and buy a real estate together, wait couple of years and sell it for profit.
@HolisticSelf-Improvement
@HolisticSelf-Improvement 21 күн бұрын
Sure, I recognized in the video that the money people bring in is a positive factor, but I also wonder who gets to profit from that and who doesn't. I sincerely hope it's a general positive effect for the local economy as a whole but it's perfectly possible that for some people, like relatively poor people who no longer have access to affordable housing, the net effect may well be negative, or even outright terrible. In fact, I just read an article about Lisbon (Portugal) where they mention a popular part of town where over 70% of homes are now rented out on Airbnb. That sounds like a bad trend to me. This is what I mean with rising prices and locals being pushed out due to tourism and/or the presence of digital nomads. Apart from that, I would agree with your comment that it would be good for locals to anticipate certain trends financially and profit from it if possible.

Yes. I think in the free version you can, but only permanently (so, not scheduled blocks). For the full features you need the Pro version but it's a one-time payment and quite reasonable (I think 30 dollars or so). I'm not sponsored to say this, but this tool has greatly improved my life and it's the best purchase I've ever made.

Yes, create a separate website blocking filter, add the desired sites you want to block to that filter, and then you can always turn on that filter at will and then lock you out of it totally for a desired amount of time. You can also use ''Frozen Turkey'' to block your computer alltogether. IF YOU WANT ME TO GUIDE YOU THROUGH THIS IN A VIDEO, give me some examples of sites, and I will record a video for you and post it here. It will be a public video, so don't give me any private information. If you reply here, I WILL honor your request and make the video.

I can feel each and every single word comes out of your mouth. I'm in the worst phase of my life rn. I'm 21 years and i really wanna quit these filthy stuff and i know that it is really harmful for me but i don't know why I'm still doing it. I downloaded BlockerX for my phone which helped me quitting social media but still struggling with pron. (you should really make a video about BlockerX). Now i downloaded cold Turkey blocker for my Pc. Dude, i really am struggling with my inner demons. I started gym, i meditate, i drink plenty of water, I'm aware of the harm of social media and pron. Still i do fap. I can't figure it out now that what is there that I should do to quit this one thing. I avoid people and those friends who talk trash. I embrace the company of good people. May God give me the best result for my struggle. I have a medical test coming after 3-4 months and i really wanna be focused on that. I mean it

thank you for your comment, it's quite motivating to get comments like this and I can feel passion burning when I see guys with the issues that I used to have, guys that feel stuck while they could actually be living a great life. I was actually thinking of recording a part 2 real soon. I have been in the situation you describe, the best thing you can do is lockdown your phone and computer with anti-porn measures. STEP 1: If you have 5 bucks a month (or so, not sure about the current price) to spend, and if you have an Android phone, get a subscription for Detoxify, a porn-blocking VPN that will completely block you out of using porn sites and even grey-area sites like reddit if you want. If you have iOS, use Freedom instead (also a paid subscription I think) and enable the porn filters they offer. Detoxify is also available for windows and macOS (the system for apple laptops and desktops). I don't not know about BlockerX, please do a Google search to see how it can be configured to block porn instead of only social media. For Windows, download Cold Turkey Blocker, use the pre-set filter for porn websites. If you have any questions, come back to me. STEP 2: go look up EasyPeasy Method To Quitting Porn. It's a free e-book and audiobook. I have an interview on my channel with the writer of it. don't be shy to come back here and report on your progress. I cannot directly change your habits, only you can (or a licensed psychologist) but I can at least offer you some guidance

I'm thinking about purchasing the blocker after watching your video. Does it block specific channels on KZbin too as well as distracting apps and websites? How easy was it for you to bypass your own filters? Thanks 👍
@HolisticSelf-Improvement
@HolisticSelf-Improvement 6 ай бұрын
Thanks for your comment! It's absolutely worth the purchase, a one-time payment (not a stupid subscription) and you get all the features that makes it a life-saving program. With the premium version you can also block programs (or apps like you call them), not just websites. I was just thinking of making a video where I block an editing program as an example, because yesterday I spent too much time on a video project for another channel without taking a break and it isn't good for me, so I use CTB to help me... and anyway, I always block the whole internet every night at 9 so that I get to do some other things. Life is so much better when you take control over the internet instead of living the other way around. Blocking specific channels on KZbin depends, you can block a channel page but you could still find their videos through the search function if you wanted to. But then you can temporarily also block the search function. Or KZbin altogether. There are so many options. If you have any doubts, just leave a comment on one of my videos and I'll help you out. I've found ways to bypass the program throughout time but right now I haven't really got a single one left. It's excellent software, really

are you able to only block news feeds on social media instead of the entire website?
@HolisticSelf-Improvement
@HolisticSelf-Improvement 8 ай бұрын
If we take Facebook as an example, I use Ublock Origin's element picker mode to hide the news feed part of it. You cannot do that with Cold Turkey Blocker, but you CAN use Cold Turkey Blocker to block Facebook for certain parts of the day. I use both these strategies. If you want help ''taming'' KZbin, try the add-on DF KZbin (Distraction Free). It allows you to easily customize what parts of the site you want to block. I block the feed, and related videos, and usually the comments as well. Then, I also use Ublock Origin to block small elements that I don't want to see, such as the amount of likes. I've always wanted to make a video about the DF KZbin add-on, I probably should do that soon.

@HolisticSelf-Improvement
@HolisticSelf-Improvement 10 ай бұрын
thanks for your reply, criticism is also welcome. Some people can definitely do both, but a lot of guys develop addiction and cannot just watch pr*n ''sometimes'' because it constantly thwarts their attempts to improve their life. For a lot of people, going cold turkey is the only cure. I had a phase in my life when I could sometimes watch prr*n (that was pretty vanilla stuff) just for getting off and then i just went on with my life. It became worse later down the road. In this video I mentioned that not everybody suffers from this stuff equally. However, due to natural desensitization and the addictive nature of the pronzz in the first place, a lot of people do eventually go astray
@HolisticSelf-Improvement
@HolisticSelf-Improvement 10 ай бұрын
@weltuntergangsbote BTW I also think that these videos or certain subreddits and forums are generally aimed at people who already understand they have some kind of problem with an addictive substance like pr0n, or want to change something about their lifestyle. If you're perfectly happy doing what you're doing, you don't really need the videos either. I personally really recommend to not use porn for many reasons, and that's why I like spreading the message, but ultimately people will make their own choices anyway...

App blocker is the best. It has a strict mode that prevents you from disabling the block on websites and apps with a timer. For $5 a month you can block unlimited websites and apps and extend the timer for literally forever and even block yourself from uninstalling. For $5 a month I'd say it's worth it. But I'm really struggling to find something similar for laptop. I have the extensions and I blocked the disable extension on Chrome but on other browsers I can still disable it, making it useless. The one I wanna try is this cold turkey one which I hope I can work as it seems to work similarly to app blocker
