Metric didn't exist in viking times. But neither did British imperial or American imperial. Not sure they had a standardized measurement system. So metric works

Fun fact: the Viking's use of the metric system is why they were unable to get to the moon.

The American supposedly went to the moon 50 years ago and then forgot how to do it, if you can believe that.

Trousers, to me, are dress clothing, such as suites or other "pants" that could be considered professional, worn with a sports jacket or formal wear. Blue jeans, corduroy, golf breeches ect. would be pants.

Now that it has been many years, are you still riding this saddle and how did it work for you long term? I'm currently researching this saddle for my hard to fit mare.
@SigneofHorses5 ай бұрын
Hi there! I am still riding it. It has changed horses from Blizz to Brisingr. And they fit both very different backs well. Recently had a saddle fitter drop by who approved the fit as well. I have found the seat of my ghost a bit too slippery for Brisingr, he’s both smooth but can also make an expressive move or two. I got a silicone pair of breeches and that solve that problem fine. I wasn’t a fan of those, but hey.. if you can’t change your mind, why have one right? On Brisingrs very round back (at the moment he’s a bit too pudgy) it is not as stable as I’d like it to be. But nothing out of the ordinary for any other treeless saddle on a barrel shaped horse. Thank you for dropping by and leaving a comment. 👋
@farmgirlrebel13335 ай бұрын
@@SigneofHorses Thank you Signe. I think this saddle will be a good match from what you are saying, I have an A framed horse with withers and a more barrel shaped horse (but I have a saddle that fits him). I have to admit, those silicone breeches are the bomb... save my bacon a couple of times when my horse decided to sit and spin. lol.

Not linen - wool.
@SigneofHorses Жыл бұрын
For a historically correct hood you can also make it out of wool. Just follow the same instructions and probably best not to wax it 😂 Wool has the natural ability to repel water. It will get wet after a while in the rain though. @susanp.collins7834

Did nobody see she put the pattern together the wrong way? The straight seam of the leg part goes to the back of the trousers, and the curved side with the small strip in between is actually the front. You can also see this in the photo at 5:15, the seams right and left of the bum pad are actually completely straight and go down to the feet.
@SigneofHorses Жыл бұрын
I had a look and I’m pretty sure o put it together the way I intended to. It’s very possible though that my version is way more curvy than the example I showed. I’m short and curvy and most men trousers are long and lean. I hope you managed to put together your pair the right way so it suit you.
@kt1711 Жыл бұрын
Yes, maybe this is why it looks so weird... I needed to alter mine also quite a lot compared to the male original pattern (I made a mock up from it and could not move at all in the beginning)... I am not so super curvy, but still female... the owner of that pair must have been male and super skinny, otherwise he would not have fit into that pattern. Also, I used linen instead of wool (required by the use case) and I am actually right now hemming the last leg :-)

Question, for being a viking, does one need to have viking heritage? Sincerely, an Eastern European
@SigneofHorses Жыл бұрын
For me no! I think we live in a time where we can be anything. If you feel Like a Viking, have an inner Viking, you can be a Viking. The Scandinavians in early medieval times that set out to travel, aka Vikings, went to the east as well. And even if they hadn’t.. you can still feel connect to a time you weren’t born in just as you can feel connect to a place you weren’t born in. #releaseyourinnerviking #bekind

@SigneofHorses Жыл бұрын
Hi there.. it is indeed unclear in the video. This might help. It’s been a while since o made this video. What I think I did was add an extra 20 cm to the hole measurement so it wouldn’t be too snug. That makes 80. Divided by 2 makes 40cm. It’s divided because the pattern piece is half the hood. Let me know if that helps.
