Jesus dude, were a dusk mask when you're sanding. I'm rebuilding a canoe and with all the sanding I'd be dead if I wasn't wearing a dusk mask. Breathing in all that metal dust and old paint is no bueno dude.

Agreed. Mistakes were made, been careful since. Wear a mask kids! Good luck with the canoe

@highstr33tАй бұрын
I picked up the boat about 4 years ago for $1500. Put $4500 into the build with paint and parts. Another $500 for the trailer parts. All in, was about $6500 ($4685 USD). Mind you I got everything a few years ago before all the prices went insane. Will post a parts list in the next video

From experience you would’ve been better off building some floors & laying carpet or lizard/gator skin on the deck and adding a flat casting platform in the bow with cubbies, a pedestal seat and strolling motor bracket That interior black paint is going to be extremely hot and burn the heck outta you. I’m not a fan of the sea nymphs, they’re way to narrow for my liking. The old Mirrocrafts had a much wider beam and better freeboard.

Appreciate the feedback brother! Still a work in progress though. Im building out the sub floors and casting decks as we speak. Got some nice light colored seadek also

People buy what they want and can afford. He has a bimmer and sti stfu with your rude comments. Not everyone wants to go into debt and make payments on a Fiberglas bass boat. Some of us own condos in big cities and have small parking spots to store our boats inside our garages

It looks great. Just got my 14ft with Honda outboard. Had to drive all the way to Sudbury from Montreal to get it from a Grampa. I dropped the engine off at marina for work 3 weeks ago hopefully I’ll hear from them soon. I’m starting to rebuild the rivets with 3m 5200 and rebuking new Alu rivets on the transom seam. That’s the only place the boat leaked. FFS 😅

Insane prep work on the trailer man, damn. One thing I've noticed with rivets is the arrow brand is terrible for breaking half way up. Like you I bought arrow thinking it was decent stuff. I bought some cheap rivets off amazon that work wayyy better. I even have an T50 arrow stapler that jams like crazy. Unreal job, amazing colours.
@highstr33t4 ай бұрын
Man I went through 3 rivet guns trying to correct the issue… thought I was going crazy. Switched rivets and problem solved. Thanks for the compliment!

If you don't mind, how much did it cost you in paint to do your project and could you remind me how big your boat is? I have a 19 footer I want to do in flake the same color as my pickup truck, but I'm worried it is going to kill my budget.
@highstr33t5 ай бұрын
If you know what your doing, 3-4 quarts of base and about 10-12 quarts of clear should do the trick. Add 1 more quart of each for the trailer. I went through a tremendous learning curve and used much more than that. If I was to redo it today, I could with the quantity listed above. The boat is 14 ft. I used Total Boat Aluminum paint and Diamond Clear coat. Both are very expensive here in Canada at over $100 / quart. I didn’t know how much I would need so kept buying quarts. Buying in bulk is definitely better. Hope this helps and good luck!

Wow I’m about to start something similar . I think instead of spraying it myself I will take the 12 or 14ft hull whichever I buy used to the Armenian auto body shop and have them do it. I think if I set a budget they will be able to do it cheaper and better than I can for painting.

I got a similar boat. It’s a 70’s Montgomery Wards Sea King 14, although I’m sure it was manufactured y sea nymph as the design is pretty much the same as yours. It’s been a solid boat, but leaks like crazy in many places. I used flex seal on the outside which worked for a day, but these aren’t made for rougher water.

I have that exact same boat, a 1992 SeaNymph 14R. Been in my family for well over 25yrs, my father passed it down to me and I still use it for bass fishing every weekend. It's never given me a single issue, these v-hulls are tough, easy to modify, and they handle great out on the water. Awesome find!
