@@japerez5403 Thanks bro. Well assuming that you have sound through all other means (i.e., radio, cd, bluetooth, Android Auto/Apple carplay, etc.), your connection behind the radio should be fine. I know it sounds silly, but check your 3.5mm cable firstly by connecting to something in your home. Those cables are very cheap and not very durable. I don't know what all you've tried, but be sure you're using the app "Original Car" and select the correct icon. Remember this won't interface with the ipod like the OEM radio will. It's just a AUX connection. Lemme know what you find out please.

@@nexus2lexus Thanks for your response, but still the same issue, no sound of the Ipod, I tested the Aux cable on other items, and it worked. @@japerez5403just to rule out the iPod, could you connect your phone (if you have a headphone jack) and try to play through the AUX with that? Not likely to change but at least we rule out the iPod. @@debianlinux9448 sorry I'm just seeing your comment - I run a separate monetized KZbin channel and don't check this channel often. My first question is if your climate control works with the physical buttons? - if the physical climate control buttons do not work, I would say there's a connector that needs to be plugged in. - if the physical climate control buttons do work... Do you see the same buttons on the digital display, but that nothing is responding to your touches? Is that what you mean? Or do you not see any digital buttons to press? Unfortunately it's difficult to diagnose if it's the radio itself, something in settings or software, or something with wiring without being able to see exactly what issue you're having.

@@elote_smokes8708 hey brother, sorry just seeing your comment. There was another comment I just replied to in my "Closer View" video and I asked them a few questions so I'll do the same. Firstly, could you clarify if the physical AC buttons are or are not working? If the physical buttons on this radio are not working, I would personally reinstall the factory radio and verify whether or not those physical climate control buttons are working or not. If neither radio buttons are working then I would suggest checking fuses. If the factory radio climate control buttons are still working, when reinstalling this android radio, be sure to double check & install all connectors as outlined in this video. If you've done that and all is well, you'll have to verify whether or not you purchased the right model Android radio. The radio in this video is for the basic non-nav, non Mark Levinson version. If you have the factory version as me, have reconnected everything properly and still no physical climate control buttons work, I'm sorry but that issue goes beyond the scope of this video and anything anyone can help with. As it likely would be a kinetic issue with the radio. Please reply back if it's not a physical button climate control button issue because then I'll have more questions. Or you could upload a video of your issue in case it can be resolved so that we can help others?

@@gelatoconnoisseur5389 I haven't had any issues that made me regret buying this radio in all the time of owning this radio - almost 2 years. I did have an issue when I first got the radio with my "temperature up" button. It was not working and wouldn't work. I ran it like that for year and I just used the on-screen climate control to change the temperature. But when a botched software update caused me to lose my on-screen climate control app, I had to remove the radio for Winter so I could run the heat. I was about to order another radio when I decided to look on back of the radio and I discovered a very small resistor that had a broken solder joint. When I went to bend it back into place to see if it would work, the resistor broke off & disappeared forever - it was that small. So I actually found some resistors on Amazon. Even though it was physically larger than the original resistor, it was the same value. After soldering the resistor on, the button FINALLY worked. I was so happy lol By the way, the botched software update was because I touched the climate control buttons when I was updating the software. If you update the software, do NOT touch anything while the radio is updating.

Thank you! Great video, this and your other back-up camera wiring video are lifesavers for any 2IS owner installing an android head unit! Now, when I connect the reverse light signal to the brown wire on the head unit's black connector, the screen will start switching back and forth from the home screen to the back up screen, back to the home screen then to the back up, and so on (I see the back up ruler lines on the screen when it goes into rear view, but no image, just a black screen with the back up lines on it. This happens every single time it enters into back up mode, while switching back and forth to the home screen). Do you know what could be the problem I'm having?

@@silverbullet4007 bear with me because I have a few questions. Firstly, are you positive that you found the correct wire for the reverse light at the rear? Secondly, do you have the proper setting for back camera on your radio? The setting should be set to NTSC, not PAL. It sounds like there's possibly at least 2 separate issues you may running into. Another question I have is about your OEM set-up. Did you have factory nav with screen or just a base radio. Finally, did the back up camera come with the radio unit or is it aftermarket? Thanks

@@silverbullet4007 how many wires does your aftermarket camera have? Does it have red, black and blue at the radio end? I suggest double checking voltages at your front and rear connections to make sure you're not getting voltage drops - voltage should be consistent the entire time. If it is, I would honestly suspect your aftermarket camera. Same with your grounding point, should have consistent voltage. It sounds like you've done everything correctly, but not seeing how everything is wired makes it difficult to troubleshoot. Another thing to check is if the black cable connection for the back-up camera is properly aligned. There should be 2 arrows that point to each other letting the installer know that the pins are mated to their respective inputs.

Both my head unit and my cam are different than yours, so cam wiring is a red/black for ground and 2 reds, one for cam power and one for triggering the head unit, all at the cam side (no blue wires on this one). I brought pos and neg directly from the battery to the cam and it's still doing the same, so the problem is not voltage, or my connections. It's down to either the cam, or the head unit itself. The cam is brand new, the head unit is second hand, so I'm inclined to think a rear view problem might be why someone would put it up for sale at such a great low price 😩🤦🏻‍♂️ I guess since it's more inexpensive, it makes sense to buy a different new cam first, to re-test and find out?

@@silverbullet4007 aw man, sorry to hear that about the radio being used. I hope it's not the issue. I have tested a backup camera by connecting it to a tv and used a vehicle battery jumper box to power the camera. This was probably close to 8 years ago, maybe 10. The reason I used a tv to test was because the camera was to connect to a rear view mirror screen. I wanted to see if the rearview mirror was the issue or the backup camera. Back then, it was indeed the back up camera. You can try that & maybe that'll help you ascertain if it's the radio or the backup camera without spending any money.

@@miesdaantje thx for the info. So I understand that your IS250 originally came with a NAV screen and OE back-up camera (also Mark Levinson)? If that's the case, it may be a CANbus issue or a wiring incompatibility? I say this because some IS owners have reported issues with this radio (and other "versions") functioning correctly on IS250s/350s with the factory Nav Screen & Mark Levinson system - if at all. However, if other things work, I'm not completely convinced that it's all radio software related. The part that you described trouble with has so far sounds "phone related" (i. e., Android Auto, phone calls, Spotify) Firstly, try resetting your radio since it's easy to do. Take a paper clip and insert it into the reset hole below the radio's microphone. Also reboot your phone & be sure all phone apps are updated. Another question I had was if bluetooth worked at all on the radio? Next check software versions on the radio itself and make sure that it's updated. One thing I want to point out also is that the "radio app" you're referring to is indeed the on the Android unit itself and NOT the AM/FM button or Original Car app. If you're playing the radio from those, you won't be able to exit out from the "radio" unless you select the "back arrow" If none of those are the issue the only thing that I can think of is contact the seller. Ask the seller if the radio will work with your current factory setup. If all else fails you could always turn on mobile data on your phone and use that to run apps such as Spotify on the actual radio by installing them from the Playstore. Again sorry, a bunch of questions I had since it's difficult to diagnose without being there especially considering there are so many versions of this radio

(Edited because I wasn't thinking about where the antenna was connected) Sorry I don't have a link. I purchased that passive antenna back in the 90's. Using this antenna, it picks up all the FM channels that I have saved in my presets. When in my garage, some of the channels go to static, but I honestly can't remember if it did that before. Again, I use Android Auto more than anything anymore.

I have a 2013 w/ nav. I really want carplay, but these screens aren't compatible with my car (different wires). Do you know any other methods to get carplay/android auto under $300. There's Grom but that's way out of my price range.

Sorry to hear. Unfortunately, I haven't found anything under $300 as I'm looking for something for my wife's 2010 FX35 as well. Ever since I've been using Android Auto, she's been wanting that feature as well. We have decided on the GROM unit (maybe the Nifty City) for hers, but it will be a few more months before we pull the trigger on that unit. I know it's out of your price range, but the GROM brand is a good product. I've been using a GROM interface in my '04 G35 for many years.

Thankful to hear something helped. It's the whole purpose of putting them up. Just be careful on the road. There's so much going on with the radio that it's easy to get sensory overload. It's probably the only thing I don't like about the radio. Too much of a good thing. I enjoy the simplicity of the OEM radio, but there are just some features I feel I need that only an aftermarket radio like this can provide. Lemme know if you have any questions about anything that wasn't covered in any of the videos & I'll try to help.

i have a ml radio, do you know if you have to splice into the harness to use the OEM camera?
@nexus2lexus
@nexus2lexus 5 ай бұрын
From the information I've read from other users across a few brands, there's no splicing for the OEM camera since it's already incorporated into the wiring. With that said, there's several different sellers for what seems like the same aftermarket unit. Most differ from one another in their U.I.'s, their launchers, specs, and even at least one of them offer an amended wiring interface into the factory system. This isn't taking into account that there's other models of the Android head unit itself - such as the model with knobs. The only way to know for sure is to contact the seller for the model that your interested in. I've haven't heard anything negative about seller support, except for timezone differences.

@@llllll5131 I will upload it soon. I almost forgot about it until you reminded me. I don't upload often because I run my son's YT channel that is decently monetized. My channel is just specifically because I want others to benefit from any info on it. One tip for drilling the hole in the trunk - it's double-walled construction. So when you drill the hole from the outside, you still can't feed a wire through it, because you need to drill another hole from inside the trunk lid. I will try to get that one up soon so you can see what I'm talking about. I recorded all that video over a year ago.

@@llllll5131 I also want to add that my radio didn't come with a back up camera even though the Ali Express listing said that it did. At the time (Dec 2022), I wrote the seller and they advised me they ran out of back up cameras. So they reimbursed me for the price of a back up camera on Amazon. I paid a little more and I got the wide angle camera. Some may not like pseudo fish-eye view, but it's actually amazing to see more of the sides as I'm backing up. With it, I can literally see my neighbor's car in their driveway before I even pull out of the garage. This really helps when backing out of the driveway as there are speeders on my street.

try bending a thin but strong coat hanger at a 90 degree angle. Use that to click them down. You're likely not getting high enough on the clips.

I've figured out a way to do this. You'll need a small screwdriver or metal stick for each clip that won't click down to hold it in place, then you can pull out the vent unit.

@@alexjones9941 it's night and day difference. The factory Bose sub is meant to add low frequency for a fuller sound. The Cerwin Vega hits hard, violently shakes the mirror, can be felt in your chest and rattles things in the back (not the lid because I sat on it with the hatch closed and it was still rattling something. Highly recommended if you want more bass. Matter of fact, my wife asked if I could turn down the gain of the Cerwin Vega.

Okay now that I have a few more minutes to follow up.... when installing amplifiers, it's best to stick with traditional means of amplifier connections - 12V constant, ground, remote signal and RCAs. The less you can rely on adapters and electronic connections, the better. Cerwin Vega more than likely incorporates a Line Output Converter with a trigger. This means that when the amp detects speaker input, the circuit board activates a trigger from the 12v power wire to turn on the amp. Basically, a switched 12v signal that is a an alternative where no remote wire is available. It's better to stick with physical connections if they're available. In this case, the remote wire since it's already accessible in the FX35. However this may not be the case with other vehicles. It's not likely to happen, but LOCs with triggers can fail. If that happens, the electronic trigger can fail and keep the amp turned on and discharge a vehicle battery by keeping the amp turned on. With the remote wire connected, the amp defaults to the remote signal instead of the LOC trigger.

@@nexus2lexus Most self powered subwoofers now have "auto power circuit" for high level or speaker level connections. I don't plan on having after market amps and subwoofer enclosures. In the 90s I was pretty big with all that stuff. However, my experience with self powered speakers in the early 2000s was a big deal. I used to DJ and self powered speakers was an awesome thing. When that came to the car market - forget about it! Life became better. Many newer cars come with decent sound systems. They just lack bass. That is the beuaty of cerwin vega. My first love of self powered subwoofer for cars was cruthfields sound ordinance isobaric self powered subwoofer. For a hundred dollars that self powered subwoofer was pure joy. I saw the other day that it made a come back after not having it for 5 years. That self powered speaker now has "auto power circuit" for high level connections. To answer your question - it doesn't matter which way you go. Just enjoy the sound. If for some reason you aren't happy with the cerwin vega spare tire subwoofer, go ahead and try the sound ordinace self powered subwoofer from crutchfield. I loved it for the money but now it is under $200 rather than $100.

@@Tuck_Frump cool story ya got there! Thanks for sharing. Yea, I managed a car audio shop for several years. In the 90s amplified subs were a joke and were not 'cool.' Regularly competing in SPL and SQL competitions, the only way to be competitive was with high powered systems that were registering at least 155dB with the decibel meter. Now that I'm older and my wife's FX35 needs the space, this Cerwin Vega fits the bill. We still enjoy great sounding audio being audiophiles, but nowadays, we don't need much to please us and this sub is just fine.
