I was thinking a lot about it. Yes, currently their live vocals sound awful. Terrible. I would think, the best solution to this problem is to play these vocals as a backing track. MIO could trigger it on his backing track board. These vocals are not really vocals, they are more like another instrument, so, why not to play it as a backing track? The only good singer in ASTERISM is HAL-CA. MIYU can sing in studio, but not live. It's too difficult for him. MIO is a little bit better, but he's at the drumkit, it's also difficult for him to sing and play drums at the same time.

Yes, it was an amazing OKYUJI, that's for sure. Such a tiny club, hot as hell. The locals call it "Hamburg's loudest sauna" 🙂 But the atmosphere was so incredibly intimate, it seemed like we were fused together with BAND-MAID in one cohesive whole, where nobody understands anymore who's playing the music and who's listening to it. Oh, unforgettable experience! Shout some extra shouts for me at the OKYUJI in Japan! I wish you a few truly hunky-dory days in the Land of the Rising Sun! In the Land of the Maids! 😍

I will always remember a comment I read on Tripadvisor about the Prado Museum: “I didn’t find any paintings that I liked.” In museums you will see many visitors but… how many of them really like them? I like the music of these girls, some songs a lot, others less. I have read other opinions and they do not agree with him. His main activity seems to be on KZbin. These girls have formed a band, have done international tours and seem to be achieving their dream, without deceiving anyone, from the bottom and by dint of hard work, without scandals, without using their status as women to attract a male audience, who adores them for who they are. In short, I do not consider it appropriate to value a work of art by looking at meters and interfaces, that is physics, not art.

Well... When I watched Rick during this moment, my impression was that a) he did not like the style of BAND-MAID music - it's a valid reason, he does not have to; and b) for that reason he switched to a theme which was purely technical and safe to discuss. In this way, he was able to avoid any direct analysis of BAND-MAID music, talking about a well-known technical issue with the digital peak clipping and LOUDNESS WAR. BAND-MAID music is complex and different from the Western music he is familiar with. If he would take the task seriously, it would be too much stress for him. He's an old dog, he does not want to learn new tricks. But of course, it evoked a lot of backlash from those who know BAND-MAID and love their music. If you pretend to be a specialist and a public speaker on a certain subject, it's a responsibility. For example, I don't pretend to be a specialist in music, and I avoid doing music reactions. I do analysis videos on the various BAND-MAID songs, and before I speak, I always study the subject for a few days. Or weeks 🙈 Rick said a few times that he does not want to speak on the subject of Asian music - I think he actually understands that he is not a specialist in it, and he understandably does not want to venture into the unknown field where he would essentially be an amateur. What made BAND-MAID fans angry, I think, is that he was not honest. OK, say it openly-I have little understanding of the Asian music, leave me alone, better ask me something about the things where my opinion would matter something. Instead, he pretends to be a great expert, he concedes to listen to a certain band, and then he just sheepishly avoids any judgement. Pathetic.

@@VladimirChupin I was pleasantly surprised by your quick and unexpected response, and how extensive it is. I have no musical knowledge, and I feel a little guilty for having provoked such a detailed response from you. I just wish that the experts would have been a little more considerate, although he was educated, and like other people with interest and knowledge, he would have shown a little joy, even if he doesn't like the group, that the music of an era has continuity in this honorable band that has gotten to where it is without stepping on heads, or giving in to what is easy and commercial, but doing what it truly wants. I repeat, thank you very much for such a thoughtful response. By the way, your videos are excellent, both the image and the sound. A great job that everyone undoubtedly appreciates. It's interesting that Saiki wrote Forbidden Tale exactly about this idea of copyright - well, other problems as well, but definitely copyright wars also: 2:27 Erasing the names of us, who passionately and tirelessly pursued beauty. 2:29 How can you feel any joy in doing that? Can their story ever find peace? kzbin.info/www/bejne/e5rOn3RporycrKM I'm glad they are fighting for more creative freedom. They always did it, I think they argued with the label and often insisted that the videos about them, or the reactions should not be blocked. That's why we have Ohrenje's documentaries, for example. Yes, MIO is getting better and better every year. I still hold to my opinion that he's a non-talented person who reached great heights due to his efforts, though. It's a Japanese ideal of a great person, actually. If you have seen the anime about Kenichi, you understand what I mean: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kenichi:_The_Mightiest_Disciple Kenichi is exactly like this: he does not have any talent for martial arts, but through his personal efforts he becomes stronger than many legendary fighters. MIO is the same. His drumming in indeed crazy, and he is incredibly good. But to my taste, he lacks some subtle feeling for music which the talented drummers have, like Akane from BAND-MAID, for example. Although recently he is overcoming even this. He is so good that this overflowing professionalism makes his drumming a special phenomenon in music.

I remember I kept thinking shortly after I discovered BAND-MAID, that "The saving grace of Akane's drums saved me." When I finally clicked on that white thumbnail of THRILL, succumbing to KZbin insistent attempts to recommend it to me, it was Akane's drumming which kept my attention enough to let me explore further. At the time I was listening a lot to various female drummers, from child prodigies Senri Kawaguchi and Kanade Sato all the way to Meytal Cohen. So, Akane's double kicks were exactly in the context of this exploration 😍 And then, of course, MISA, and Kanami, and Miku's lyrics... And Saiki's magic presence... BAND-MAID is a miraculous union of miraculous people...

@@VladimirChupin I've loved every one of them in different songs for different reasons, but Akane's drumming is the common thread. I listen to drums differently in other bands' songs because of Akane Hirose. (Now I have to look up Senri Kawaguchi and Kanade Sato)

@@TherealSeriousMoonlight My favourite performance by Senri Kawaguchi is STRATUS by Billy Cobham, which she played with a band at Rocking the Castle jazz festival in France: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mJenamWPbrRmrsU Kanade Sato is now part of KOIAI band. And of course, it's a super band. I don't know how long it will live, usually the gatherings of such legendary musicians are temporary. Let's see. But back then, six years ago, I was fascinated by her solo performances like this one: Drummer Girl - Kanade Sato / Drops (Live version) kzbin.info/www/bejne/jorTd39mbdJonLM Or this fanny one, where she approaches a drumkit casually installed at a shopping mall, and nobody suspects anything form a twelve-year-old girl, until she hits the skins: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eYXWi2OOn5moptk

It's a shame they couldn't have played in a much smaller venue. They tried their best to engage the crowd, but when they are in a different time zone, it's very difficult to pull off. The song sounded great, unfortunately, through no fault of their own, the venue seemed to suck the energy out of the performance. Thanks Vlad !
