Awesome video Vlad, this was my third show. I checked out the band in a different location each gig. The first, at the Filmore in Silver Spring, MD in front of Kanami. Then in NYC in front of MISA and at this show I was two people from the rail in front of Miku!

We are lucky that we still can be at the rail in a small venue... if we want to 😍 I think the time for this is almost gone. BAND-MAID is gaining popularity, and even in the West they will probably play the larger venues from now on. I am glad for them, of course, but to see them on the horizon instead of at arm's length... Not so great anymore, of course. I actually hope they may play sometimes a smaller venue, like what they did in Shibuya Eggman for the Pre-US OKYUJI in 2022. I would be glad to pay even some very high price for that. Once in two years or something 😊

I have the idea about what is separating Hal-Ca from the other 90+% of the guitarists. Her instrument TALKS. Only the greatest ones can achieve that.
@VladimirChupin
@VladimirChupin 12 күн бұрын
Yes, I also formulated it like this. A musician must be meaningful. HAL-CA is a very skilful and technical guitarist, but she's never technical for the sake of being technical. She's a "musician's musician," yes, but she's also "everyone's musician." Professional guitarists may analyze what she's doing and find many interesting things-but people like me, the non-musicians, can simply enjoy what she's playing. If she plays DAWN, I see with my inner eye a dawn over an ocean, or a mountain, or over the expanse of green fields, and I live with her (and MIYU and MIO) through that experience. I don't need to know what they are doing in technical terms, I just enjoy the picture they paint with their instruments.

@VladimirChupin

@@andrejshamin1452 Я вчера слушал когда The Planet of Metal, подумал, что вокальные...

If it does not immediately repel me, I just leave it playing at the background for some time, and after an hour or two I can tell if this music goes into my playlist or not. It helps me to overcome the problems with the learning curve in case the music is new and unusual.

When I tried to play ASTERISM in my office, my colleagues were also quite upset. One of them kept repeating, "It's a dubstep metal." I have no idea what dubstep is, to be honest. Or I have an idea, but I don't know why he hears dubstep in ASTERISM. I'm also not very familiar with Slayer, to be honest. To me they always sounded like just a lot of noise. But it was when I was a child. I heard one of their songs recently and was actually surprised that it has a melody. Whatever. Associations which we have when hearing some unfamiliar music can be very strange at times. For me ASTERISM sounds like they are building a lot on King Crimson-which I know they themselves recognize, MIYU and MIO even played a cover of 21st Century Schizoid Man.

My guitar playing buddies and I stood right in front of her, literally arms reach away watching mesmerized as her fingers danced across the fret board. Truly amazing. One of my buddies actually played guitar professionally back in the 90s in Japan. So the day was made even better by having some of the best Ramen Noodles I've had in LA not too far from the venue. Still not as good as the cheap mom and pop places I've eaten at in Tokyo, but still, it was good.
