Splinter cell conviction and blacklist were some of the best games I’ve ever played. I miss the split screen co op features where I could play with friends without buying online subscriptions. Stealth games require strategy and aim rather than no frills shooting. Hope they actually follow through on the splinter cell remake.

Wow this video speaks a volume. As a stealth enthusiast myself i completely relate to this topic. And as for suggesting some real good stealth games that came out new but are damn underrated here is the list: 1. Shadow Ereban legacy 2. Intravenous 1 and 2 3. Mimimi studio games 4. Sumerian six 5. No sun to worship 6. Evotinction

I didn't know Sniper Elite 4 was fundamentally a stealth game until I played it (having never paid the slightest attention to any others in the series, I have no clue about those). As for the Dishonored series I believe those games only make sense, in relation to their premise & design, as stealth titles. I played both releases/all DLCs in that mode & consider them the best sneaky gaming I've had outside of Splinter Cell. Likewise Prey & Deathloop are at their best, least as I'm concerned, worked though slowly while hidden in the shadows.

I personally think Ubisoft ruined the genre in its entirety. I don’t think they’ll ever deviate from the far cry formula of sneak into settlement, do boring side tasks, eliminate all enemies, liberate the townspeople or destroy comms, leave area, repeat.

I have another theory, stealth games are difficult to play and require patience. The big developers think "player hate difficulty and frustration, so let's give them the stealth without the frustration". But we know today, thanks to From Software that in an action RPG you can bet on frustration if you make it the identity of your game, with a community of players. Do the same thing in a stealth game and that game will become very popular amongst players. They will identify as "those who have beaten that difficult game"
@Scario45Ай бұрын
If you want to make a good stealth game, you need to make your character weak. If the player is stronger than an army then why being stealthy in the first place? Like in the game Styx, when the main character cannot fight upfront you force the player to play smart.

I would pay so much money for a new PS5 stealth game, they should 100% remaster Splinter Cell and the Old Mission Impossible game back into something slightly new but rememberable. I do love the new Hitman games but I think it's not stealthy enough, like I want to be climbing through vents, scaling buildings or ab-sailing down them and hiding from cameras by going into the shadows.

Splinter Cell -> stopped being a stealth series and died with no new games Metal Gear Solid -> stopped being a stealth series and died with no new games Assassin's Creed -> stopped being a stealth series and died Thief -> terrible reboot and then died with no new games Hitman -> actually still getting new games and is still a stealth series that sells well Lot of choices we have, but even funnier how there's a clear reason why we don't get stealth series. It's not because stealth games are more niche (Soulslikes do just fine selling millions while being a niche genre), it's that all of the stealth series stopped being stealth series, sold poorly because of it, then died for obviously not being something that people wanted.

There's a reason why stealth games are doing not so well. It is the CORE of stealth See games, and really anything in general follows a incremental succsess curve. In any zombie survival or TD game, you kill enemy, you progress x% towards the end. And this is also what gives us that boost of happiness. Secondly, any errors or mistakes either reduce the progression, or makes future progression harder. In REALISTIC stealth games, the opposite is true. You START off at 100% success rate, and ANY slip up means you go down to 0(realistically if you're seen and sussed out, the entire world knows) Which means the gratification is delayed till the VERY end. Now, games try and combat this either by making the information spread(as in you are seen/anything sussy happened) slow/preventable, but this feels not realistic. They also try and add in safe spots(as in to divide the level into many parts) but this also seems fake, since why the fuck would the guards decide to ignore one spot?

I really recommend everyone a game called Intruder, it's on Steam, it's an online indie fps but with a high focus on stealth, the developers call it a "stealth multiplayer experience". Only problem is that there's not a lot of players. I really like this game, give it a try
@jamesshand41163 ай бұрын
Yes, id love to see a rebirth of more stealthy military shooters, kinda like ghost recon but a tab more realistic and 1st POV. Imagine this for a game, SAS-Sabre squad, you’d play as one of a six man squad conducting covert reconnaissance, search and destroy and hostage rescue missions. I said SAS cause I’ve never played a game that truly depicts the SAS in any real manner. To give an example of a mission idea one could see you and your squad do a HAHO jump into enemy territory than have to hike to a target, let’s say an enemy compound, conduct reconnaissance of said camp with the potential HVT, than assault said target, kill or capture without alerting the compound and than sneak back out of the AO avoiding contact being as realistic as possible, I wanna almost be pulling my hair out with this game but also married for 50 years.

@Parker8752Ай бұрын
Honestly, I like it as a game on its own merits, but I don't like it as a Splinter Cell game. The earlier games in the series gave you the option to avoid killing entirely, and required a little more care to remain hidden (crouching wasn't automatically completely silent, the suppressed firearms could alert guards because silencers don't actually make firearms silent, and there were more light levels than complete darkness and fully lit), and allowed you to move bodies around (typically to hide them to avoid raising the alarm, but you could just as easily put them into a guard's patrol route if you really wanted to. Chaos Theory was the one to remove the whole "alarm gets raised if a body isn't hidden, regardless of if you killed all the guards" and the "x amount of alarms is a game over" from earlier games in the series; allowing a more action based approach if you wanted to take it but still leaving you vulnerable enough that striking from the stealth was better than going in guns blazing. It was by far the best game in the series imo, simply for allowing a variety of approaches in a way that Conviction didn't.

Although mainstream stealth seems to be dead and buried, we still have some nice fan releases (mainly centered around Thief), such as the amazing Black Parade and the solid engine for fan missions that is the Dark Mod. (I can wholeheartedly recommend Iris mission from the latter). I'd also argue that the Dark Mod seems to be the peak of hardcore stealth genre.

I would say Intravenous 2 is one of the best stealth games in recent years. It allows you to go loud or go stealthy. The AI of the guards are extremely intelligent as well. They would investigate bodies, blood stains or even missing teammates.
