Stopped watching at 18:00 minutes when I realized only one of the three presenters had played the game.

the game only became "short" when most people just did id using walktroughts... when I first played it it toke a long time to figure out what to do, even with a lot of friends playing the same game. We got it, of course. Most of the problem back then was the lack of our english skills... kkk A great game anyway, and one of those we still remember after so long... And our kids got interested for the same game... and liked aswell...

Something tells me I'm not going to learn much from someone who plays Metal Slug with white blood in LATE 2024.

The atari jaguar has 64bit component's, which means it is 64bit technically. I like the system and a handful of games.

cutscene abuse! yeah, I have the same problem w/later Kojima games that I have w/any game that goes heavy on cinematics - I don't think it works. either they feel like an interruption, which is never what you want from cinema, or they're more interesting than the gameplay, so you're blasting thru to get to them. I prefer the Half Life approach where scenes are triggered and then you can still walk around, so you're never disconnected & always grounded in the gameplay environment. otherwise I like cutscenes that act as bookends for chapters of gameplay - you finished x, here's a little visual goodie to set up y.. but short, to the point, don't waste my time. I mean, I literally cried in OG FF7 when Red XIII joins his dad's statue on the hilltop & howls at the moon, and that was, what? 10 seconds? Perfect.

Growing up with the C64 me and my brothers had Double Dragon 1 and 2 and loved both games. Then we got a NES and played Double Dragon 3 for the first time, we were amazed at how good it was! Still is one of my most beloved NES games..

Ah Syndicate, my all-time favorite game... I have a (private) fork of Freesynd in which I made the explosive weapons (timebomb, gauss gun) do damage to buildings/infrastructure amongst other cool enhancements. I simply adore this game and still stand in awe of its original technological achievements...

"Staff Announcement, Incoming patients with Bloaty Head.." There's an emergency, move! move! MOVE! 😁👌 such a timeless classic, the Kit Kat story was funny, what a piss take 🤣, Always wondered about the story behind Theme Aquarium? 1998 Shame that was only released in Japan.. .. Constructor 1997 & Neighbours From Hell 2003 were amazing too.. very Bullfrog Productions vibes going on in those.

Excellent interviews. Watched Steve Cooper before this. You can really see how much effort and thought went into these. Steve said they created multiplayer versions to test internally to iterate the mechanics which was genius. Pity we never saw multiplayer version if it was that fun. Still have a sealed big box copy on the shelf!

I never finished this as a kid, because I saved the game over the fourth game disk with every copy of this game I owned. Every damn time. I did go back and finish it properly a few years back. Damn I love this game.

Very good overview. I remember being dead impressed. You're right that later games allowed the player to view through walls in isometric engines. And it's monotonic. However back in the day it blew everybody's mind. The pc vga resolution of 640x480x16 colors was really excellent for this game.

Your group seems to have a relatively small pool of adventure game experiences on which to base this premise. Perhaps invite people who have had a wider breadth of experiences in the genre? That would at least make the discussion more interesting.

I bought this on a whim back in 1995. The big box cover art of the 3-fingered hand was intriguing, and I knew of Origin from the Wing Commander games. I absolutely loved it. I thought for sure they would make a sequel, but unfortunately it never happened. I'd pay good money for a Kickstarter remaster or a sequel.
