I mean most tryhards will move to the competitive mode so even if sbmm exists I dont think there will be much of a issue. My reason of having a ranking system is that it will give a sense of progression to the players otherwise players won't have any interest or reason to play the new public matches. Also if players don't play the pubs then there won't be any worth of adding these new operators and scorestreaks to the game and it might decrease the players interest and ultimately playerbase will fall so there has to be a compelling reason to play pubs.

@@cadosplays but that basically creates two ranked options. theres definitely ways to create an incentive to play both pubs and ranked, but it doesnt have to be ranks and leaderboards that say youre "better" than everyone

@@thefirstjim no I mean that pubs will become a casual ranked mode and ranked will become competitive mode, both can have different leaderboards or only competitive mode can have leaderboards. well sadly a lot of players wont play if there was no progression in pubs.
