I got lucky, I was serving in the RAF and was posted to Ayia Napa. Yes there is an RAF base on the edge of Ayia Napa but is a secure are and access is not possible.

Just because you've completed basic training and only completed 2years, when you work with people with 10, 15, 20, 25 years service. I'm afraid, they will talk to you differently, simply because you know and have experience nothing. Same happened to me in the forces, but I knew why it happened. I knew and nothing to offer, until I gained experience. Being fair, I wouldn't be complaining about having a job with the fire service. From the years gone by, the job is nothing like it was from late 90s early 2000's. Have less fire calls, but more other specialist calls. Also known as special service calls.

This isn't realistic and remember he can only talk from his own experience. It is highly competitive and for a lot of people it can take up to 8 years

Interesting to see the differences between the recruitment process' across the different fire services in the UK. Just passed to get into the NIFRS and I can't wait to get started! 30 years young so anyone out there worried about age holding you back - Don't!

what do you do as an 'entrepreneur' that is just such a vague term. I understand wanting to live that sort of lifestyle but that doesn't seem realistic in my mind - it seems really volatile and idk maybe I don't want to sit in an office my whole life but as the same time earning a consistent decent salary seems the better option.
@cameronmcclearyАй бұрын
Entrepreneurship is volatile and so can be working an office job. Only difference is entrepreneurship you can’t be sacked. Everyone is different, some people are happy in a 9-5 their whole life 👏🏽

Applied at 38. Started training at 39. Passed and got onto station at nearly 40. Dropped £1k a month from previous job as a process improvement tech in manufacturing. Scary yes, but, looking back now , absolutely BEST decision I've ever made in my life (alongsides marrying my wife and having our two kids) 😊. I trained with 15 others, 20yrs to 50yr(Women and Men). What you will go through will transform you, one way or another. I am lucky to have them now as extended family. Still talking and meeting up to this day. If you are thinking about it, do it. Glass half full, the minimum you will learn are amazing life skills and find your personal limits. If it sticks, your life will change in so many ways you'll look back and wish you did it sooner!

I completely agree mate im not in the same profession but i am curious about the fire service i now know there's no job with all guns and whistles there will always be bullies in each profession but you pick your battles im ready for war 😂 i relate so much to you with how you feel about these places i hope you find a job that is right for you :) thanks for being honest since 98% of people just aren't being real here either they will criticise you because they go through shit all the time and are salty cause they do even thou everyone does so in short not very open minded and not very nice to be around or they don't understand how poorly the younger generation gets treated in all of these situations since i know for a fact that we get the worst of there wrath all treacles down from the top thou (boss man ) Anyway i will finish here stay positive man you will find a place that appreciates you tge trick is to find the right people
