Travel Dude ….Back then you were right ….bog roll race…placing unfurled toilet rolls all the way down the length of the cabin up onto the front toilet and then flushing…..people loved the toilet paper flying up the aisle like the speed of sound. It was called the Bog roll Race! We did face painting in the back galley …I was good at doing Drag Queens and a little chap came in and I said hello Mr…what do you want ….a butterfly or a clown? …he said ‘I want bee-sting lips and big eye make-up’ …oh I said…too easy. His mother flipped …I said to her..darling just give in ..the writing is on the wall…she grabbed him and stormed back up the plane….she never complained. I used to dye the female crews’ hair at the Holiday in Potts Point…always carried some bleaching solution and foils in my overnight bag…the girls wanted 2 things…to be rake thin and to be blonde …..No Base in SYD then so we overnighted like crazy there. Some of the girls had little back books and were on the make and came to work the next day with fists full of cash (and a few boys too). I remember a wild night out on Oxford Street and heading back to the Holiday Inn and thinking ….”wow that moon is so bright”….Damn it….it was 0605am and it was the sun and pick up was at 0700am…a skin full full and no sleep…a cold shower and then wash rinse repeat landing back into SYD after a 4 sector day at 1400pm….I wasn’t even that young but could keep up….Glory Days and so much fun and the pax loved the slutty tight uniforms with buttons undone and I always rolled the cuffs up on my shirts to show off ex bodybuilding biceps ….We were generally professional and we were respected and people saw us as an alternative to QF with their carrots up their bums….I remember once on a Cairns to Melbourne giving ballroom Dance Lessons in the galley and doing Fashion Shows down the aisles with the kids….no IFE….no nothing….just us …we were ‘it’. Great memories a great time and very fun loving and dedicated VB crew. BB

@@beauregardfielding5477 that’s sound wild hahaha, sounds like a lot of fun. Respect to you for going out all night and then doing a four sector day. I heard that you had 3 days layover in Bali too. That must have been good. Thank you for your message.

Hey, I think you need to get your information correct. Most of the information you are giving is incorrect. A day in the life of cabin crew maybe more than six months as well. Also you don’t need to be domestic crew to become international.
@travelswithted673
@travelswithted673 4 ай бұрын
Hi Jobbie, the video is my experience. I have no reason to lie. Your experience with a different airline is going to be different. I state in the video that it’s my experience. I’m not sure why you think the day in the life of a Cabin crew would be different for someone over 6 months in the job? Do you mean that it will be easier? Here in Australia the international flight crew jobs are Qantas and Jet Star. It is possible to become say Qantas international straight away, it is possible but very unlikely if you haven’t any experience. Many people are applying for international from domestic crew and are still getting rejected because the job is in high demand. In America and other countries I’m sure people are getting in straight away but here in Oz it’s very difficult to get international without prior flying experience. You are competing with crew coming back after the covid collapse and managers moving across from Virgin. If you know different please explain? Thank you

@@travelswithted673 hey, I’ve actually been a cabin manager for 12 years with va. Sorry but the duty limits rest periods allowance leave benefits you have give incorrect information about all of these. You also said you didn’t realise sick leave runs out that’s is standard practice with most industries in Australia and you also get more sick leave in aviation compared to other industries. You spoke about your cabin manager which I believe you were referring to your LCC not cabin manager. You also didn’t fit in because you were straight. Unusual as there are majority of straight people you work with. It’s diversity. Sorry I m not having a go at you I’m sure everyone’s experience is different but if you’re sharing hints and tips the correct information would be more helpful.

@@jobiehoney6472 hi, thank you for your message. You’re a lot more civil than the other cabin manager I’ve been speaking to on my other video lol. It would have been nice for her to be professional and comment like you instead of mocking me for not knowing the sick days rules amongst all the the other info I had to learn haha, I appreciate that. I did the video a few months after leaving VA. I’ll have to watch the video back to see what I said about the duty limits rest period, if I got it wrong by 1 or 2 hours it wasn’t intentional to slander Virgin. I said heaps of good stuff about VA, and I also said I’d recommend VA it if that’s what someone is looking for. The allowance leave benefits, you would also know better than me, I apologise if I got that slightly wrong too. The sick leave thing I didn’t know about as I’m English and presumed that if I had an injury at work, then Virgin would have covered me. It have been nice for my cabin manager I mean Lcc lol to have warned me about it running out. I just had phones calls of her being off with me. She’s not at VA anymore. But I now know the info regarding that and it’s Australia wide. Thank you for highlighting that all the same. The Cabin manager mistake I corrected on the video in sub titles. But I guess you mention that in your comment because it adds to your case lol. 3 things I may have got slightly wrong, the other 40 points are true. Especially the gay thing, I knew 1 other straight guy. I don’t have anything against gay men, I have heaps of gay friends but all the men there are gay and the posters and insta had trans women on it. If that’s inclusive then fair enough, but there are no straight men there apart from one or two. Anyway, I appreciate your comments. These videos take ages to make and it’s hard to get everything right but I appreciate it can upset people, who enjoy working at Virgin. I will try harder to get everything right in the future (I’m not being sarcastic). If I get anymore people who are annoyed I may do a video with the corrections as I don’t want people thinking I’m slinging mud or making up crap. Thank you.

You quit after 6mths, what could you possibly offer in the way of advice to anyone? 🤷🏼‍♂️🤦🏼 Also, if you are going to give information about duty lengths or rest periods, perhaps have that information handy and accurate. Not “I think it’s 8 or 10 hours, I can’t remember” 🤦🏼 and I was crew for 15 years, most of that a a cabin manager.

Hi, thank you for your comment. I understand that you might not relate to the video 15 years into the job. But it’s still useful for people who are thinking of applying. I can still give advice on the recruitment process and my experience. The information I state is what I was looking for before I started the job. I didn’t want to see people posing saying how great the job was, I wanted to know what it was really like. I give 100 bits of useful info for newbies (not people with 15 years experience lol). I’m sure that I can be excused for my laziness regarding the 8-10 hours thing. Especially as it’s a free video and I’ve given 100 other bits of info. After all it’s just a KZbin video I’m doing on my own back. Well done on your 15 years and being a cabin manager, but I don’t think that makes you anymore qualified to talk on this than someone who has just done the process. Thank you all the same.

Also, how on earth could you not know that your sick leave runs out? The EBA states how much you accrue per year, and of course if you took more than your allocated amount you would have to take leave without pay 🤷🏼‍♂️🤦🏼
