EOS leads the world in space junk tracking. It has had 30 years experience and its 2 tracking stations in eastern and western Australia, can track a small object travelling at 18,000 mph to an accuracy of half an inch. The slinger can easily hit moving drones, even when it itself is moving. Germany has bought a large package of Slingers.

Interesting. Adds a lot of firepower. Arguably more than on the Bradley itself. But I can see issues. Miniscule ammo capacity. That silly little ammo box behind the gun just ain't gonna cut it. Should have at least 200 rounds for the 30mm. And this thing looks delicate, like any small arms hits will take it out.
@bbmw902910 ай бұрын
That's a lot of firepower, maybe more than the Bradley the AMPV is derived from. But the RWS look very delicate. If it got hosed down by a machine gun, it would likely be out of action. And can it be reloaded under armor? If not, some is going to have to clime on top of the vehicle to reload the RWS.
@bbmw902910 ай бұрын
That look like fun. But how many seconds of ammo does that RWS carry before it needs a reload?
@bbmw902910 ай бұрын
That's a lot of bolt on firepower for an APC with not turret. But I have to wonder how the unarmored, unprotected RWS with lots of exposed delicate electronic equipment is going to hold up in combat under fire. The APC can take small arms fire. I don't think the RWS can.
@bbmw902910 ай бұрын
Funny they're using the .30 cal for this, when it has a 30mm that can fire proximity fused ammo. I wonder if EOS has added fuse setters to their 30mm RWSs to use the new NorGrum 30mm programmable ammo?

Will these work on bigger “Amazon delivery drones”? Got a warehouse popped up a few miles from my house and I got drones violating my airspace constantly. I’ve tried birdshot, trained hawks & the MANTIS system from Europe. I’m pretty happy with the last one aside from it weigh laying every flock of ducks or geese with $70,000 worth of 35mm

Great news to hear these are going to help Ukraine fight the orcs! 🎉 This is the kind of relatively low-cost anti-drone solution they need, to balance with the use of expensive Stinger ManPads or other systems like the Gepard. Cost per kill is what counts in the long run. And built on a M113 or other light IFV they can be used much more flexibly in offensive fire support ops as well. Or put em on pickup trucks and give them a cheap, scalable mass anti-drone army! 💪🇺🇦

Why couldn't they just upgunned the Bradley with the 30 and gave it ability to use both TOW and Javelin, also will there be an MGS version with a swap of the Stryker MGS turret to the AMPV?
@cod6guy12 Жыл бұрын
They wanted to get rid of the turret to give more interior space for crew, AMPV is supposed to be an APC not an IFV (The roof mounted RWS seen in this video, unlike the original bradley turret, is exterior mounted). For the IFV role, a brand new vehicle with a 50mm autocannon is being developed to replace Bradley.
@bennuredjedi Жыл бұрын
Agreed, but the Bradley had a version that mounted the 30mm but was never fielded, honestly it would be a great export version for countries like Canada. They can also make an MGS version fir export as well using the Stryker MGS turret, smaller budgets could benefit from these. Lastly, to me the 12x7mm round is Obsolete on the modern armored battlefield a bigger caliber is needed still retaining lightweight status the 20mm should be the caliber to replace tge 12x7mm in its "HMG" fir armored vehicles especially the AMPV, a RWS with a lightweight 20mm mount plus aaw combo will contribute to the distributed lethality matrix that the Army is pushing for.
@cod6guy12 Жыл бұрын
@@bennuredjedi I might be misinterpreting your comment, but the RWS seen here is 30mm not 12.7mm. It's a version of the m230 chaingun used by the apache

Cool, slow deployment but I see the concept. Im interested how exactly a container makes the weapon system better? Is it basically a better dust cover?
Very interesting, just a few comments that is think would be an improvement: 1) Which container type(s) / size(s) and what is the full weight with and without ammo; 2) Time in seconds for time from store -> ready to fire and from ready to fire -> store; 2) Can fire on the move? (from Truck cargo bed or vessel); 3) Which situational awareness sensors (that could be fitted in the container) can be linked to EOS Fire Control System (and share the remote operation communication bridge)?; 4) Extra-Large ready to fire ammo box would be a must (since reload is almost a maintenance operation)?! ... this makes full sense for security vessels / coast guard vessels with the 30mm gun and the stinger... as a plug in / plug out payload for different mission roles or for the rotation of patrol vessels...
@fernandocosta2194 Жыл бұрын
Nice video, but very traditional ... but what about true innovative, e.g. what about "Plunging fire"/"Anti Trench" mode (balistic computer algoritm could support it) or "Counter Rotor Drone" mode or "Sound Sensor Firelocation fast track & point" mode ... is more SW in FCS !? ...Other Modes that are differentiators?! Or if not in the "modes" then with additional secondary (over the MG, HMG or AGL) plug in weapons single shoot like 2xCarl Gustaf RCL (HEAT <700m) , 4 x 40x56 mm single shot HV ABM grenades (Anti Personal / Counter Sniper / Counter Drone / Counter loitering munition <800m)...
