I'm guessing you'll know when the birds are showing up, the flowers aren't there any longer either. Nice thing about buckwheat is he can either combine this for grain or dry it out a few days for hay, regardless of what he does it looks like he'll have enough volunteers to still use it for pasture. On a smaller scale I'm betting you could run 6 or so hogs on it a half acre a day at a time or so and they'd clean up pretty quick after the pigs you could just cover crop out for the winter

O about 65 to 70 bushels to the acre. You have an organic farm?
