So if I order mylite 2 in silver/golden age and want to put it in a archive. Will it fit in a silver/golden archive or in a golden archive?

4:36 that's the only reason why I don't use those bags. All it takes is 1 mistake or oversight and that book goes from a 7.0 to a 4.5. I know cause I've done it. Never again.

So I recently completed my collection of NM Neil Gaiman's Sandman and want to bag and board it properly, preferably in Mylar and with high quality boards. However there appears to be a wide supply shortage right now. I can get Mylites and full back boards but only in Golden Age size. Are there any disadvantages I should be aware of if I were to try storing modern age comics in Golden or Silver Age bags/boards as long as the backers match the bag size? Will the larger size make a difference discrepancy put my comics at risk in any way, even if the boards match the bags and are the stiffer full backs?

Standard mylite 2 Wont fit either. Use current size mylite 2 bags with top loaders. Standard ml2 use to bag silver books. Silver bags arent necessary.

I found the boards a bit rough in the surface, not shiny, is that a problem for my comics? is it safe? someone said that they left a dimpled effect on the back cover . i would really appreciate if you helped me. Thank you.

Mylites 1mil are better for thicker comic books like say action comics 1000. Makes it fit easier and the 4mil is too brittle

the next comment is based in a serious conversations with two Archivist 30 years experienced professional that helps museums to save historical documents etc: I think all industry is wrong! acrylic cases, mylar sleeves for records, plastic cases for games, comics CGG cases etc... all wrong! that plastics (mylar, poly etc...) NOT protect at all from paper damage (yes comics, games, records etc. are made of paper and of course vinyl and plastic carts etc...). the way to protect all that is using another paper preservation papers, like the book collectors do! you don't any serious book collector protect books in acrylic cases! or mylar sleeves. check this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bH27apWKqtegjMU cdn.thelibrarystore.com/images/uploads/archival/AD68-0111_popup.jpg Also keep everything at 45% to 55% humidity and less than 21C temperature in a dark room. at this point you maybe say "WOW BUT THAT IS SO BORING!!! if I use that papers to storage I even CAN'T SEE the beautiful cover art of my comic" YES IS BORING!!! BUT YOU ASK for the BEST way to storage comics (paper). all that companies VGA, CGG offer that "window" things to all collectors rejoice seeing his comics and games through a mylar or acrylic thing but again that cause damage over the years, those things ARE PLASTICS! plastics are not good to preserve paper.

What is the actual term for the sleeves and archives, cannot find them on amazon...
@thebig93
@thebig93 7 жыл бұрын
Just to clarify the thickness of the various items. They are measured in "mil" and not "millimeters." One mil is .001 inch (one thousandth). So a 2 mil sleeve is .002 inches thick and a 4 mil sleeve is .004 inches thick. If a sleeve was actually 4 millimeters, it would be a over 1/8" thick (appx .158 inches). It is somewhat confusing and an easy mistake to make.

One guy fitted his comics into his top loaders with the Mylar bag but didn't use a backing board, I don't know if the toploaders were BCW but try experimenting without a backing board and see, as the toploader that the guy used was sturdy and there was no need for a backing board
