Thanks for posting this interview (apologies for being a few years late!). It was neat hearing from Tony Rust himself about his real-world creation that we all benefit from. The story about the design isn't unlike Sears Point or Laguna Seca, surprisingly. A bulldozer and a dream... I did the original Tony Rust Race Track for rFactor in BTB many years ago with only fuzzy Google Maps and maybe 4-5 photos found via Google - some are seen in this video. Me living in the USA didn't help. There was no thought process for picking Tony Rust as a sim track; it looked fast, seriously challenging with elevation changes, and most importantly, it was relatively unknown back then (who needs another Le Mans or Nurburgring?! I have dozens of "ghost track" alphas on a hard drive somewhere). I posted a beta in-car video on YT and a local, Marc Stenger, offered to take a lot of photos for me to get some of the details at least halfway there. It's great to see how far everyone has taken this track in newer sims.
