I think the anime this episode reminded you of was Fullmetal Alchemist. An episode of it with a girl and dog... yeeeaaaah was effed up. The corrupt gems here are more a reference to Madoka Magica and that series take on magical girls vs corrupted versions of them.

Books were an escape from loneliness for me because I used to read a ton of Geronimo Stilton and the Nevermore Series and connected with the characters a lot, as well as the occasional roald dahl novella. I love reading books to pieces, but don't quite enjoy school-issued books and Animal Farm was... Whyyyyy?! Same reaction to The Longest Memory. School books are usually terrible to read, ngl

Oh god, this episode. It's so depressing, Garnet is a fusion that WANTS to be together, while those gems were forced to be together. And garnet had to be shown such horrible thing. Now that I think about it, forced fusion is a pretty big thing in this season. Between these, Lapis and Jaspers fusion and Sardonyx (she's already seen Sardonyx on Patreon, it's not a spoiler for her.

This episode is genuinely so disturbing, it took me until my second watch to fully understand that the shards were essentially dead gems (somehow I missed the line "they were buried together") that were resurrected and stitched together against their will. It's supremely messed up. Steven Universe is really good at psychological horror when it wants to be

@brandonseupersad7916 It is like way too much, too much violent behavior, madness and yelling, that sticked with me for more than a decade and my mind I feel filtered out the rxpe the monster was doing to one of the women. My fear of big houses in forests became a thing because of that, not so much anymore but I'm still gonna be cautious and avoid these houses, especially if it is raining and only way is to the building which is what the woman and the other one with her did, they made the worst mistake by going there but I forgot what else exactly happened, watched this so long ago so not surprised.
