General Joe Strummer was more than just "the Bob Dylan from Punk Rock". He was simply the most brilliant poet in the History of Rock & Roll. Nobody wrote texts so beautiful and strong and direct and blunt and violent. He brought the heroic tradition of American Folk of Woody Guthrie into the British Punk Movement. Just look at the PHOTOS of the man and you feel the same feeling of surrender. There is no doubt: John Graham Mellor is the greatest lyricist of all time.
