I lived in Croatia in 2022 and it was interesting and confusing for me. Some months sound the same, like in Ukrainian, but the months are different :)

This is mild misinformation, while it is true a lot of Ukrainian vocabulary is similar more similar to polish while Russian is similar to Bulgarian, grammatically, and with core words, Ukrainian is closer to Russian than the languages she listed. Reason for the vocabulary discrepancy between Russian and Ukrainian is that in 1300s western east Slavs (Ukrainian and Belarusian) came under dominance of Latin polish elites while easternmost eastern Slavs came under Muslim Mongol/Tatar dominion. Poles were more involved in Ukrainian society and Polish and Latin became languages of learning there while Mongol/Tatars let Russian society be autonomous and Old Church Slavonic was the language of learning and prestige in Russian society. As a result Russia stayed more conservative changed less, grounded to linguistically similar old Church Slavonic(Ancient Bulgarian) while Ukrainian introduced polish/Latin/ European loanwords, until the 1700s when Peter the Great brought a lot of European teachers scholars and craftsmen from England, France and Netherlands

I say about nowadays, not about what was million years ago. It seems to many people that Ukrainian and Russian are almost the same because in Ukraine evryone knows and understands both languages and this syrzhik confuses too. But if to see the real Ukrainian words, they have more difference with Russian. And I don't say it's good or bad. Of course other languages of other nations could affect Ukrainian or Russian and other languages. A lot of languages affected each other. But I don't agree with your last sentances. You told Ukrainian took more foreigh words from England, France and Netherlands? Russian language took from these languages more. Ukrainian has more natural slavic words. How about январь, февраль, март... - January, February, March...? Why in Russian language changed, for example, the word "очи" to "глаза"?...
